When was the last time you got a good night's sleep?

My sons don't sleep through the night. They're 21 months old. They had a good patch around a year old, but it's been going downhill since. They've had non-stop colds since September. I can't remember the last time we slept through the night. On a good night, we're up 3-4 times with them. Often it's more. James sometimes wakes for 2 hours at a time. It's awful. I just want to know if we're alone.

Yikes - so sorry you're having to get up all the time. Mine have been STTN since about 9 months. Down at 7 pm, up at 6:30 AM and I rarely hear any of them even fuss overnight.

Wow-- I feel so sorry for you! I didn't sleep much for the boys' first 11 months, but now they sleep very well at night. Naps are an entirely other, highly traumatic event, but I do finally get some sleep at night, which I very much appreciate. I don't know how you are doing it! We got a new puppy recently and she needed some overnight potty breaks, so I was up 2-3 times with her for about a week straight and I felt like I was going to crash & burn. I hope all of you start getting some consistent sleep SOON!!! :)

(That's how old my eldest is  )

In all seriousness, I have awful sleepers - all four of my children. I've gotten used to not sleeping an entire night!

I'm sorry---my girls were eating at night until around 11 months (10 pm dream feed), but after that they STTN unless they are sick. (730:pm-6am)

We used 'Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child' to help get them on a good sleep routine. I have one non-napper---but night time is not a problem.

Hope you get some sleep soon!

Ouch, your post made me cringe! Mine sleep well through the night and have since about 9 months. I seriously hope yours start doing the same soon - it opens up an entirely new life!!!!

Do you get up with them when they are not sick? My Lily tosses and turns and makes noises all night but I just peak at our video monitor and as long as she looks safe I just leave her be. I cannot imagine the heck that would break loose if I went in when they cried out at night - they would never go to sleep again!

Is it too late to do sleep training at 21 months?

We did sleep training with James at 9 months and it worked well for many months. He was sleeping through. But Evan has never seemed like a candidate for CIO. He cries so hard he pukes - he's just that kind of kid.

Honestly, I don't know what to do.

Last night. :) We had a rough streak the last couple weeks with them being sick and then me being sick too. But we're back to normal now. My girls are very good sleepers for the most part.

Ugh, so sorry you are not getting the sleep you need, sleep deprivation is the worst! Mine are good sleeper through the night, thank goodness but naps are another story! I hope they get over their colds and sleep better for you. Can you and your husband take rotate getting up each night so that at least you can both get a good night sleep every other night?

    Years, seriously years.
My oldest didn't sleep through the night until she was a little over 3 by which time I already had a newborn who also wasn't sleeping through the night. The twins have slept through the night a couple times but because of medical issues with one of them, I am up checking on him numerous times throughout the night. I have sleep issues myself so top that on all this and I average about 4 maybe 5 hours of sleep a night. Most of the time thats not straight, its always interrupted. I keep thinking....one day I will.

Twelve years. My kids have almost all slept through pretty early, but I don't. With four kids, there is always some one sick, having a nightmare or getting up to pee in the middle of the night. In the last two weeks, it's been a severe bladder infection, an ear infection, a cold and two bad dreams. DD2 and DD4 are the worst. Throw in a dh that snores like a bear driving a freight train, two dogs and a cat, well, sleep isn't something I get much of. I might get a six hour stretch of uninterrupted sleep but I'm a light sleeper anyway. I am very lucky to have a dh that wants me to sleep in when he's home. He gets up with the kids and does b'fast on the weekends with them. Even though I'm not sleeping, I'm getting a little much needed rest and they get some quality Daddy time.

I feel your pain. My girls got a cold at 3 days home and have been sick or teething since. Asthma didn't help.

I think we've finally turned a corner at 2.8 yo. They don't get as fussy when they have a cold unless they start coughing with an asthma flare. We're finally getting uninterupted sleep most nights. I never thought it would happen but it looks like it finally did.

Last night. Once asleep, mine sleep solidly unless sick (Knock on wood).

I can sympathize though since my older DD gave us nights awake.

Hope you get good sleep soon!
