When to use boosters?

I would love love love to put the girls in booster seats and get rid of the highchairs. But I can't give them their meals on plates unless they're suction cup plates that actually stick to the table. If you use booster seats, do you put their food right on the table or do you use plates? Maybe there's a placemat that sticks to the table, and I could put their food on the placemat? It would be so much easier to just wipe off the table than wiping off the tray and the floor and the cracks of the highchair!

I always used boosters since they make them reclinable. I never used a high chair. I had 2 highchairs that I got for my shower and I never ended up using them.

I used these; they have trays so at your kids' age I still used the tray and around 2 or so I probably stopped using the tray and pushed them up to the table.

I think these are the longest used items in my house. We used them from 6 months and they are still using them at 3 years old. They wash up great!!!! You can't even tell we've used them for almost 3 years.

Never any highchairs at our house either. We used the Fisher Price Healthy Care boosters. They're now on reserve for traveling because my two have Kinderzeats that I like even more. When we were using the boosters I'd go back and forth between using the tray and just pulling them up to the table.

We switched them to booster seats before their second birthdays. We used the trays that came with the booster seats at first. The trays were small enough to put them into the dishwasher. When they got a little bigger we pushed the chairs up to the table and they ate off of plates. If you are concerned about them throwing their plates on the floor and you don't want them to eat right off of the table you could use Table Toppers. They stick to the table and they're disposable. We used them all the time when we took them out to eat.

Ditto on using booster seats with trays from the beginning. I got the reclining ones as well. I think they are the first years? It was horrible when I went to inlaws and prior specifically asked if her booster seats had trays. She said yes, well when i got there NOPE. So the boys had to eat off the table on plates. What a mess!

We've used booster seats since about a year ago. We started with just putting the food on the tray and now we actually use plates. We have the Fisher Price Healthy Care Booster. It's very easy to clean.

I agree, there are boosters with an attached tray. But if you want to pull them right up to the table, they do make place mats for the table. I think they are meant for travel but are strudy and can be used over and over... and I think they catch food off the edge of table. I saw some on One Step Ahead's site... They are called Tiny Diner mats- $10.99 each.
