When to switch to faster nipple?

My girls are 8 wks and we just had to switch one to Similac Alimentum. For some reason it seems to flow slower than the Similac Sensitive through the slow flow nipple.

I am wondering when people switched their twins from slow flow nipple to fast flow?

Just curious, not sure if it is too early or not?

    Thanks!

We were always on a fast flow because of the added cereal, but, if they are taking forever to drink, or getting bored with their bottles before they are finished, I would try a faster flow.

We use the Dr. Brown's bottles and went to the level 2 nipple right at 2 months. They were much happier after the switch because it didn't take so long to eat. I'm thinking about switching them to level 3 soon, but I'm not sure yet!

We switched them to 1+ mo nipple (avent - 2 hole nipple) right about at 1 month...they girls were drinking so so so so slow out of the 1's & feedings were taking so much longer than they should. Once we switched everyone was happier!
Now we will be changing to the 3 hole one next week :)

I think the best way to see if they are ready is to just try the bigger one & if it is all just spilling out of their mouth after they get the hang of it, then they aren't ready.

    good luck!!

PS angeez - PM me your first & last name for when I mail those outfits out - i have your address, but not your name :) thanks!!

    Which bottles are you using?

Playex slow...is SLOW (we are still on it though) Their fast is TOO fast. I just found a variable nipple that works great. They have a medium flow but it is not "nurser" I cannot remember, I think laytex. Not sure.

The Alimentum is thicker than the others. Before we started adding cereal we were using a level 2 dr. Browns for the Alimentum.
