When did you switch from a crib to bed? Our cribs go to toddler beds but they are way to high off the ground so we are going to buy regular beds - but when?

16 months with our oldest and 15 months with the twins. Your going to find some people want kids in cribs till their 10.lol
Whatever works in your home. Personally I found it easier when their under 2. Easier to teach them bed is for sleeping not messing around. The older they get the more inventive they get on how to cause a mess.

Mine just turned 3 and are still happily sleeping in their cribs. I plan to keep them there until they start climbing out or until they get too long. From having spoken to people that have transitioned with older kids it seems like it can be easier because you can explain what's going on and what the rules are and they will understand (of course that doesn't mean they'll follow the rules!)

I switched a month before my odd's second birthday. She was a great sleeper, very easy transition. I plan to do the twins around the same time. Basically since we'll be moving overseas again, but we're not going to bring furniture (just a major IKEA shopping spree), so I'll transition them straight to toddler beds (my oldest went straight into a twin bed), b/c it's only for 2 years or so and then I'll buy good beds at next destination.

We just switched our almost 2 year olds to a queen bed, they weren't sleeping well in the cribs, but would sleep all night in our bed! They did great with the switch, i personally think mine like being together alot better than seperated. So far they have slept everynight the whole night throuhg in the new bed, which is very unusual for them!!

We also switched the week of their third birthday but only because it coincided with the destruction of the crib tents and a fall.

I would have kept them in there even longer if I could. Like...sixteen? ;)

I asked my sister the other day when she switched with her son.....and she told me something that helped. She said, think of when you'll be comfortable with them getting & and wandering around the house if you're still asleep.....b/c they will! And I decided we're not ready for toddler beds. ;)

We switched our oldest DD at 25 months. But Iam hoping to keep the twins in their cribs until they are around 3.
