I just started solid foods about 3wks ago (right before 6mnths), and am anxious to start finger foods.

When did you start feeding solid foods and when did you start finger foods?

I think most places say to wait until 7mnths - so we still probably have a few more weeks to go, but I am just excited!

We were a bit later on finger foods so probably around 9 months when they figured out how to get their hand to their mouth and were working on the pincher grasp. We started with Puffs broken in half. I had gaggers.

We started table foods at 9 months - I think we started some biter biscuits at 8 months but that's it. My girls have always been picky and slow to warm up to new foods. I know some people have babies that eat anything you put in front of them - not mine!!

Cereal and baby foods we did at 5 and 6 months.. I did bitter biscits at 6 months.. Puffs at 7.5 months. I used mesh feeders at 6 months for treats..

Now at 8 months we are on Stage 3 and I occasionaly feed them pieces of bread, pancakes and those kinda things.

For puffs or biters biscuits, I would say 7 months. HTH :) .

You can start trying now, they will let you know if they are not ready (gagging, not interested, etc).

umm, they are 9 months and we haven't started yet....guess we are alittle behind. I do give them cheerios and puffs once in awhile though. I have read that you shouln't start finger foods, puffs or biscuits until they can sit on their own. Not sure if that's true or not??

I'm so glad you asked this. Our pedi just told us it would be closer to 9 months, but I thought it was usually around 7 for the Gerber Puffs and stuff.
