Now that I have my little girlies wondering when it's common to pierce their ears?

I think this varies for everyone. :good: For me, I got my dd's ears pierced when she was 3 months old. :good: I thought that was best because she was too young to play with them, and it gave them time to heal properly.

You might want to ask your dr because I think they recommend them having some of their (if not all of their) vaccinations before getting pierced :)

I personally didn't pierce our dd's, we feel it should be their decision when they are old enough to take care of them, but that's our personal opinion and I know everyone is different! :D

I agree that you have to figure out when it is best for your family.

We did ours at 4 1/2 months. They have done well with them and don't even realize that they are there.

I am abit of a whimp so i think i will be waiting until the girlies are old enough to ask when they want them pierced. My mum got mine done at 6mths old.

I agree it varies by family. If I had my way, DD would have had her ears pierced at 6 months but my DH, who does not disagree with me hardly at all about the children, has (to put it mildly) expressed his extreme reluctance for her to ever have her ears pierced. So chances, are I will be waiting until she asks for them.

I tell everyone that I had mine done when I was 5 years old (bday present) so that's how old DD will be.... :D

We will be waiting until they are old enough to ask for them. I got mine done at 9 years old and still remember how excited I was to get my earrings!!

My pedi did it at their 9 month check-up.

The good thing about getting it done at the pedi's office is they pierce with hospital-grade plastic (the same thing that is used for hip replacements) so you don't have to clean the earrings. After piercing you just leave them alone for at least 6 weeks.

We didn't pierce ears until Kindergarten. I wanted to make sure they were old enough to understand & want them pierced. I would definitely check with your ped & see what they recommend, I think some will even do it in their office? I could be wrong about that, but I'm sure I've heard that on here before.
