Right now our LOs nap in their bouncies or swing, but I was wondering when I should start putting them in their cribs to nap?? Do you put them down wake or try to get them sleepy first? They are really good at STTN in their cribs, they sleep from 9:30pm-8:30am.

I think my two started napping in their crib around 4 months. They tended to fall asleep with their bottles or at least they would be very sleepy & then I would put them in the crib.

We moved them for naps in cribs around 4 months here too. :good: I have always tried to put them down drowsy but sometimes they'd fall asleep while drinking their milk. My dd was napping in her bouncer and what I did was do a slower transition by putting the bouncy in the room then in the crib and then taking it out. I might not have needed to do so much for it but I was nervous. Good luck!!

I started crib naps around 4 months too. At that age I would try to get them sleepy before I put them in their crib, that was also after bottle time.

They are always wide awake during bottles because we do the feed/play/nap schedule so I am trying to think of a way to get them settled down after play time. Even after their last bottle at 8:30pm it is hard to get them to sleep without putting them in swing or bouncie.

We started around 4 months, too. Prior to that they usually slept in a boppy on the couch, or in the co-sleeper. The transition to cribs was no problem

Try a lotion massage/bath; that really helps. That is what we do and it works every time. We used our cribs for naps at 9 weeks. It made all the difference so I could get some peace.

Our LOs are two and a half months and while our son still sleeps in the swing, our daughter moved to napping in her crib this week. We do the feed, play, sleep routine and put her in the crib when she shows signs on sleepiness in her bouncy. She is a trooper!!

4 months as well. I started holding them against my chest and let them snuggle their blankie for a few minutes then lay them down in their crib awake. They "talk" for a few minutes then drift off to sleep...very little fussing if they were really sleepy.

I just started them this week and they are 7 weeks old. I'm working on a skeleton of a routine sooner than later...They are doing great...a little music, white noice, swaddling and a few minutes of soothing (bouncing/swaying) and I lay them down.

we started early. They've slepted at night in their cribs from the day we brought them home and probably around a month old we tried to consistantly put them in their cribs for a nap in the afternoon. Even if they only slept a little bit we wanted them to get used to it early. now at 4 months they'll take a 2-3 nap in them in the afternoon. We try to put them down when awake so they can put themselves to sleep. My one is very good at it the other one takes a little longer but doesn't cry just moves around a lot.

Us too, they slept on the couch next to me until then, but they started getting too wiggly to leave them on the couch around 4 months old.

They slept in them at night from birth so they were used to them already.

I followed a lot of what The Baby Whisperer suggested... (though can't remember exactly what that is now...), but we put ours to sleep in their shared crib for night at 5 wks and I think they were sleeping in there for naps before that. I worked hard at getting them to fall asleep on their own, and we were still swaddling until 6 months. So for us the routine would be to change their diaper, swaddle them up, put on the white noise and put them in the crib in their sleep positioners... for the most part they would fall asleep on their own. I know it was closer to 4 months when they started to take longer naps - that was really nice.
