I think i read before that you are supposed to wait on giving carrots. I dont remember the reason though. We have been through most stage one foods by now and carrots are one of the last stage one foods for them to have. My boys are 6 months. When did you introduce carrots?

I don't remember hearing that, but I do remember reading somewhere that carrots aren't supposed to be something you make yourself. I think too much nitrates or something. I can't remember exactly when we started, but I think probably around 7 mos or so.

i gave my girls carrots second (right after peas) for stage 1 foods. I agree with the PP, I think you may be confusing making your own food with they already prepared commercial baby food. I read also that you are not supposed to make your own carrots and that it had to do with the nitrates....

Carrots was the first solid that I used (after rice cereal) at about 4 months for my ds. And he's fine!

I agree w/pp's - it's the nitrates in carrots that you need to be worried about if you are making your own babyfood - that was the one food I didn't make myself, but bought readymade - I think we introduced them after squash, sweet potatoes, apples and bananas...so around 6 1/2 - 7 months...

How long do you have to wait for homemade carrots? Dang it, I just made my first batch of homemade finger food for them...and wouldn't you know I picked a suspect vegetable!

    TIA!

I guess all pedi's are different. Mine told me to start solids at 4 months with orange veggies being different. We have done carrots, sweet potatoes and squash so far. On to green veggies next!

Long day, can you tell? I meant to say "with orange veggies being FIRST". Sorry about that! [IMG]

Yup we had them at 5 months, along with peas, sweet potatos and squash and green beans. They are the only baby food I have not made on my own yet.
