I'm due October 3rd and my shower is August 29th, just in case I have them earlier. I've had a fairly easy, uneventful pregnancy, so it was a safe bet to wait that long. My youngest also turns a year old September 15th, so we wanted to make sure it was out of the way before his birthday (with him, I had my shower August 16th).

The friend who's throwing my shower had a hard time finding twin themed invites. She says she found some peas in a pod invites (since my ticker used to say "surprise two peas in a pod") and thought those would work. As of right now, I don't know much else about it. Do you know anyone who could make custom invites? That might be cute.

I don't know how cutesy you want to be, but I'd go with the "double" theme. Find a recipe for two types of punch and name them Punch A and Punch B...a cake that's half chocolate and half vanilla? I don't know, I'm terrible about coming up with ideas for this stuff. I'd personally tell MIL to go crazy, but I'm easy that way. :)

I am due on November 16, and my showers are on August 25 and September 9. I've already seen the invitation for the shower on August 25 and it is SO CUTE!!! I'll post a link to the site, the one my friends got for mine is 2 peas in a pod, I love it! http://store.babiesbridesandmore.com/

There are alot of websites out there if you search for keywords twins, baby shower, or invitations. I did sneak preview my invites. Since I'm having 2 boys, we're doing sports theme. My mom came up with genious idea of theming the showere "Double Header Game Day". I love it!! She & SIL & sister made the invites themselves and are sooo cute with little sports balls stickers all over them!! I don't know when it will be though, but I'm hoping soon. I'm starting to feel alot of pressure below when I walk around too much!! Tell your MIL that if she wants to do the shower you want to be surprised!! This will let her be creative on her own!!

I was due 6/6 and had my shower 4/2...I made my own invitiations and even made up the the saying myself....

    it went something like:

    Giggles and Grins
    Diapers and Pins
Amy and Tony are having Twins!

I made the invites using Wilson Invites that I bought at Michael's Craft Store - they have templates you can use....

I am due Nov 15th range and my last shower will be August 11. I asked friends and family to do them early in case of complications or bed rest. I wanted time after the shower to go buy items and set up the nursery while not being on bed restor restricted. Everyone was very amicable and open. I don't have much in the way of themes because I haven't been part of the planning.

sorry to butt in but I see a lot of answers from people who have kids before their twins and I was wondering did someone offer to throw a shower to you or did you ask. I am starting to freak about what i have to buy and would love someone to throw me one but I hate to ask. I have a 3 year old so I already had a shower so I am just thinking no one is going ot realize I might need another :(

Alandrum, my friends asked to throw us a shower for each of the kids. How far along are you? It wasn't until a few weeks ago that it got brought up, and one of them was a complete surprise to me.

IMHO, every baby deserves to be celebrated, and I don't think there's anything wrong with asking someone like your MIL if she'd mind. Three years is a pretty big difference and it's twins! If you lived closer, I'd give you a shower! I love having them!

thanks for the reply :) Your too sweet:) I am 16 weeks and a lot of friends have offered ot let me borrow things and my parents have asked if I need anything so that helps a little. I only really want to borrow things from peopel that I will only need for a little bit though like bounces and swings and stuff. I still need a lot of other things. when my parents offer they mean like 1 thing too and it can not be that pricy or I would ask for that one thing to be my crib and mattress. :)

Oh! See, 16 weeks is early still!
You can always try and shop the resale stores and see if you can find anything there. eBay and Craigslist are always good options too. Give it some time!

    (sorry to derail the topic!)

I didn't get a shower with my first son. I really wasn't expecting to get one with the girls, but my husbands cousin wanted to throw one for me and i wasn't about to turn it down.
