When to do 3D ultrasound?

Hi,
I know this topic has been posted here before but I had a hard time searching for it. Can you guys tell me when the best time is to have such an ultrasound with twins?

PS I don't know if it's 3D or 4D? I've heard different things.

Seriously, I did it at 28 weeks and it was really too late, the boys were so big their arms and such were in the way and they were squished.
I think ideal is 23-25 weeks.

 

I get them at every u/s at my OBs office and so far the best pictures have come from my last one at 28 weeks. Before then, they were just too small. I will have another u/s tomorrow and will see how they turn out at 30 weeks.

 

I was told 26 weeks.

 

I was told with Twins you should do it before 26 weeks to get the best results. I had one done at 19 weeks and planned to do another around 25 weeks, but I ended up in the hospital with PTL. It was an awesome experience though, and I have it all on DVD to watch it whenever I want. Its a great keepsake.

 

We did ours at 25 weeks and will do another at 29 weeks....the 25 weeks was pretty awesome...have fun with it....get the DVD for sure. I think it will be fun to share with our boys years from now. It is really neat to be able to see what they look like for real!

If I was you, I would go NOW!!!!!

I went last week (20 weeks) and had a 3D/4D done...btw, the difference is that the 3D is the still picture and 4D is the movement that you can see. Some places will put the 4D on video for you. I went to First Expressions 4D and got a 30 minute video of my session along with a CD that had 56 3D pictures on it! It was awesome! here is the link if you want to see some of my pics.

As you can tell, at 20 weeks, the baby doesn't have much fat, so the face still looks pretty alien. We did it at this point just to get to see the baby and determine gender. They recommended waiting until 26-28 weeks (with a singleton) to get those "fatter" face pictures and close up shots.

Goodluck if you go and get one done...I wouldn't wait too much longer though, those babies will be squished in there to get good shots.

MY first was at 22 weeks and the babies were kind of sickly looking......... no fat and very alien like. They had me come back for free at 30 weeks and the pictures were incredible. Looks just like the babies I delivered. Incredible!
