My twin 1 year old girls are not walking yet. One seems like she wants to so I am sure she will walk any day but the other is just not interested in it all. Julianne (the older of the 2 by a min) is standing and wants to walk as were Breanne is just not liking to stand. She will pull herself up and stand by the coffee table but when we see if she wants to walk she sits down. Is she just taking her time in everything or is it something I should worrie about.

not sure what month your girls are but Jacob is about 15 months and still not walking. He just is going about it slower. He pulls up and sometimes cruises very slowly (mostly if we are NOT right there) OTherwise he sits and scoots on his bottom (yep doesn't crawl) I know he will get there but honestly, I know it could be a little while still. Try not worry, but you could always ask your ped. if you want more info.

No worries until they are 18n onths. My first dd walked at 12 mo nths, DS walked at 10 months, dd at 17 months and ds at 13 mo nths.

All klids are different and do it in their own time.

DD did not walk until she was 15 months (DS at 11 months). Her pedi. orthopedist said not to worry until 18 months. She had mild hip dysplasia at birth but it has been corrected for a while. It's hard not to worry, but try not to. :)

Peyton didn't take her first steps until she was 16 months, Mackenzie 18 months. They both walk fine now!

Bea walked at 11 months and Ainsley at 18. They do things in their own time. The only thing "they" worry about is if the child is not making any attempt at moving by 12 months.

BTW, Ainsley was a butt scooter too! She didn't crawl until 15 months or so. She is very cautious and pulled up and cruised, walked with a push toy forever. Took her a long time to let go and walk on her own.

Both of mine walked at 13 months. I would worry until at least 18 months, I know easier said than done.

Kelly (baby A) walked first at 13 months and Kaitlyn (baby B) followed at 14 months. Kelly reached all of her milestones first though. Kaitlyn was always a laidback baby and wasn't interested in being mobile. I wouldn't worry.

Josh walked at 15 months. We tried EVERYTHING to get Nate to walk. We'd spend hours trying to get him to walk between us. We got 5 steps at most, then he'd refuse. At 17 months he woke up one morning and decided to stand up and walk across the room. My kids also didn't care for cruising along the furniture. Now I wish they would walk - all they do is run!

I don't think you need to worry.

I know tons of people whose children didn't walk until 15 months or later. I would talk to my pedi about it though if you are worried. :hug99:

The normal range for walking is from 9-18 months, and adjusted if they were early. My girls were born 9 weeks early, Lily took her first steps at 11 months and Grace just took hers recently (17 months). She had until 20 months adjusted to do it within normal range.

Give them time, they'll do it.

My twins are 14 months and neither of them are walking. My son will take a few steps and then decide it is faster to crawl. My daughter seems to have no interest at all....not even with a walking toy. Last time we were at the peds...I mentioned it and she didn't seem too concerned.

My girls are 18.5 months actual, 17 months adjusted, and neither one is full-time walking yet. Josie took her first steps about a month ago, and is very capable of walking, but crawling is still much faster. She'll take 10-12 steps at a time, and then sit down and start crawling. Bella was born with clubbed feet and dislocated hips, and with casts and surgery for the first 10 months of her life, we're not expecting her to start walking until she's closer to 2.

    I wouldn't worry until 18 months :)

I feel like I have read 15 months is average, and they don't even begin to worry until 18 months.

My girls walked just a few days before their adjusted age was 1 year, but their actual age was about 14.5 months.

Syani started walking at 11.5 months. They're 15 mo old now and Eve just started a few weeks ago. Sy just took off one day whereas Eve it took at least a couple of weeks to get the hang of it. So there really is quite a difference. I used to work for a group of doctors and one of them had said, the longer a child crawls the better they'll be at reading. Something with them scanning right to left while they crawl. We'll see if that's really true or not. Right now, Sy the one that started first, loves books and will bring them to me. Eve likes books, but Sy's much more interested in them.
Don't worry, they'll take off. GL

I have one walker, and one sometimes will pull up girl. My pedi said not to worry until 18 months or later. I found out I do actually know someone in person who has twins, and one of her twins walked about at a year, and the other at about 2 years b/c the first twin would always go and get what the non walking one wanted.

My two were 13 months when they started walking. My ds was the one who always wanted to walk with your hands etc, whereas my dd was the one who would just stand. DD walked first by a few weeks!!

Maya was walking by 9 months. Mason wasn't walking until 13 months and I think it would have taken him longer had he not wanted to be like his sister. I have two nephews who weren't walking until 15-16 months and they were born the same time as the twins.
