I've head you shouldn't in the third trimester but my OB never said it was bad.....but now I'm curious is it ok when you are dialated? As of Tuesday I was dialated to 1cm so is sex still ok?

personally I would not do it - I think at 29 weeks and already starting to dialate it would just be too risky.

I'm not sure, but I personally would not do it if I was dilated.

Sounds like my DH. We DTD up to about a week or two before birth at 38 weeks, but it certainly is not comfortable.

I don't do it just to be on the safe side. So far I've had no issues this pregnancy, and want to keep it that way. :)

I think sex sounds WAY too uncomfortable now anyway.

If I was dialated to 1cm at only 29 wks, I wouldn't have sex anymore. Too risky IMHO.

I was dilated with my middle child at 4 for almost the whole last trimester and we were able to and did continue on til the end and had her at 37 wks.
With my son, born at 39 wk 5 days, we were dilated for the last couple months, only 1-2cm...but we again were able to and did continue until the night before.
The doctor said that as long as the fluid isn't leaking, then you should be ok.

If you want to and are still worried about infection or anything, then you could use condoms.

Ultimately, it would be a great question for your doctor and to do what he/she says.

  9. I asked my Dr. and he said no sex of any kind since 12weeks but of course if we could obstain from sex we would not be pregnant again. I have been dialated 1.5 for about two months and still have no problems just cant be as adventureous.

I was told at my last appointment (24 weeks) no more sex. I'm already at risk for preterm labor and am on modified bedrest, so it's a definite no for us.

Our doctor has cleared us for sex as long as it doesn't cause pain/bleeding or leaking of fluid.
With both of my previous children we did it all the way up until labor. LOL Our doctor kept telling us to go home and do it more to try and start it. Never worked for us.
This time, being twins, DH is more nervous and hasn't initiated in a while. LMAO

I would ask the doctor, see what s/he says.

We asked the OB about this after we found out we were having twins. He said he wasn't going to prohibit it but if I were his wife, he wouldn't want to risk it. So we stopped around 9 weeks. DH also didn't really want to anyway, he said the fact that they are in there just killed the mood. We started again this week though b/c I am not dilated at all yet and I want to try and get things going!

You still can?? Wow I'm jealous. My poor SO was so deprived of sex during my pregnancy, since I was 5 mo along it hurt so bad to have sex. My whole pelvic region was always hurting. Having sex felt like my bones were going to shatter.
