Lincoln has had a fever most of the day. It's gradually gotten higher and higher--a few minutes ago it was 102.5 and this is after two rounds each of ibuprofen and tylenol. He has no other symptoms but is totally lethargic and just sort of whimpers in my arms. It's so sad! I can't see our Dr. until monday, and I'm just not sure this is ER worthy. I'm mostly concerned that no meds seem to be bringing it down--in fact the exact opposite. What would you do? I think it's gonna be a looooong night one way or another!

How has he been eating today? Is it possible for you to take him to ER?. . . .with a temp not helped at all with meds and being lethargic and whimpering I think I would go in. Do you have an oncall nurse/doctor line? You know your baby, if he is not consolable I would say yes. Whatever you do I hope he feels better soon and let us know.

I'd be inclined to go to the ER... At the very least, ask the dr/nurse on call about it.

Poor guy, hope he feels better soon! :hug99:

A fever that does not break with meds and being lythargic calls for a visit to the ER!! I would call the doctor and take him in.

I hope he is better today!

I always tend to take mine on usually to an after hours clinic or to the ER because my philosophy is that if they have something that can be cured with an antibiotic I would rather go ahead and get them started so that they can get well ASAP.
you have to remember ..I am a paranoid worry wart!

    but ....

I do know that the drs always tell me that fever is not a bad thing - it is just the bodies way of fighting something off -
they have told me that as long as they are eating, esp., drinking ,and playing even if it's not as much as usual to rotate tylenol and motrin but if they aren't eating/drinking/playing or if they won't stop crying to take them on. I just have a hard time waiting! bless his sweet heart - I hope he is better today!!!

How is he this morning? I'd be inclined to take him to an after-hours clinic, or at least just call the nurse line at the hospital and describe his symptoms. The lethargy is worrisome. Are you alternating the Tylenol and Motrin? I think you can give them alternately every 3 hours....

Ugh, poor munchkin -- have you tried cold washcloths to the head, etc?

Hope your little guy is better soon -- high fevers are the worst.
