i want to put a blanket on them when they are sleeping. i think it would help them sleep better. my DS seems to want the body warmth of me in bed with him so i thought maybe he gets cold at night and needs a blanket. when is a safe time to do this. when did you do this and what do you put in there with them

There is no way even at my babies age that they would keep a blanket on, but if I thought they would I would have been okay with it once they could stand/roll/etc. I gave mine little loveys starting at 4 months and by 10 months they were a GREAT tool to helping them sleep, they LOVE those loveys now lol!!

As soon as they can roll and lift heads. Mine have great snugglies that help them sleep. They are so cute and easier than carrying a blanket around when not at home. I started at like 3 or 4 mo.

We started using 'lovies' when they were around 4 months.

As soon as the could roll over we started using blankets. DD loves her blankie ~ she'll grab it, put it up to her mouth and start her 'rabbit' time (it's like she's sucking on a binky, but doesn't have a binky in...she doesn't like them) SO cute!!

We started putting a receiving blanket on them and a small teddy in the crib when they were around 9ish months old. Amazingly they keep the blanket on all night even while they toss and turn.

That's so funny! My DD does the same thing. She will not take a paci either, but from day one she sucked her lip. Around 3 mo she started liking to have a burp cloth or blanket held right over her lips, she does not suck ON the blanket/cloth, but it must be touching her lips while she "sucks her lip." It is the cutest.

My first baby, ds, started to sleep with a burb rag about three months. I read somewhere if you are trying to get your baby to sleep in their crib, to give them something that smells like you-- so a burp rag that you used while nursing or a shirt. So I used to take off my shirt I wore for the day and give it to him and it worked! Of course four years later he still has to sleep with a blue shirt now (don't know why it has to be blue), but I don't have to wear it. We give him a clean blue shirt. I stopped buying blue shirts for myself because he would snag them.

With the twins, they started sleeping with lovies about a year old if I remember. Serene sleeps with a winnie the pooh security thingie, and liana sleeps with a groovy girls doll. She has always loved yarn and after losing the happy meal version, we picked out one that she won't let go of.

It's a security item that they can sleep with- a small blankie toy, or doll or stuffed animal or cloth or similar.
