When during pregnancy did you wash/prep baby clothes?

This question sounds a bit silly...but I am a 19 week pregnant first time mom to-be with a day off. I'm twiddling my thumbs and need a productive activity.

When did you moms, or almost-moms-to-be, wash and organize all the new and used baby clothes for your new twins??

I have a kitchen table full of hand me-downs and am wondering if it is waaaaaaay to early to wash and organize.

    Thanks!!

Never too early LOL But then I tend to do it a few times before my babies arrive. I say go for it :)

It is NEVER too early to be prepared and organized. Especially if you are the sort who likes to be prepared. What you don't want to do is wait til its too late. If you already have things that you want to wash and sort...do it!

I did mine at about 30 weeks. I packed my bag at 24 weeks though, after my first PTL scare

I waited too long to deal with the hand-me-downs and then wound up on bedrest. My SIL (who gave most of them to me) had to buy me some Rubbermaid bins at Target and sit on my living room floor for a whole afternoon sorting them out for me, while I watched from the couch. Never too soon!

For brand-new things, though, I just washed them as we needed them. I wound up returning a bunch of stuff with tags still on for $80 credit at Baby Gap!

I washed as I needed them. I never got around to doing that before hand

I just washed and folded all the clothes this past weekend. I am 30wks now. I posted thinking it might be a bit early and like your other posts everyone agrees it's never too early! I am feeling pretty miserable right now with getting bigger by the day, the heat, and having BHC so I think it's better to do it early than to wait.

:thanks: I love the 'seize the moment' feeling that surrounds twin raising and twin prep.

Turns out that my sudden burst of energy was just as quickly replaced with mind-numbing fatigue...so I took a nap. Lucky me.

I washed all my stuff for the twins too. Some of my stuff are from DS (which I washed before storing them and some are from consignment sales. So yeah.

It's not too early at all! If you aren't convinced, see the thread about how to get out of bed and you will understand why.

A twin pregnancy is hard hard hard in the third trimester, so do what you can now!

I agree - it's so hard in the third trimester that you're better off doing it now. I waited too long and now my mother & husband are doing everything for me. Good luck!

I say sort through them by size and wash just the 0-3 months and then when you are ready for the next size you can wash them or you might find the season changes don't fit with hand me downs and you might have to buy some. Twins tend to be just a little smaller than a singleton. Mine were a good size (7.1 and 6.9) and at almost a month old we are still in newborn sizes, but I do have to say with hand me downs they are preshrunk so some of the 0-3 months will be about newborn size!

Yeah...I am going to prep as much as possible.

Sandy005 - you are very correct! I was shocked to see how many 0-3 month hand-me-down pants and bodysuits are actually newborn sized...after so many washings, I suppose. This turned the sorting of the first year clothes into a complex task requiring critical thinking skills. Seriously! Not to mention the seasonal aspect...I had to repeatedly count on my fingers to determine the anticipated baby age related to when winter will turn into spring and then blast into summer.

Thank you ladies for the practical advice regarding the reality of a 3rd trimester with twins.
