    brush their teeth?

    comb their hair?

    change their diapers?

    giving a bath?

They fight me on all of these things. I'm longing for the day when it gets a little easier to some or all of the above.

Sometime between two and three years old IME. For most of those anyway. Diapers and baths earlier, with fluctuations.

Suggestion re combing hair: DETANGLER! I don't know what took me so long but it's made all the difference. And it smells good too.

Yeah I think right before 2, is when they became obsessed with their teeth. If they could, they would brush 15 times a day....of course that includes a huge mess in the bathroom.

brush their teeth? About the time they discover brushing their teeth is "fun". About 2.5 from my experience.

comb their hair? My kids have always loved having their hair combed. I use detangler like it's going out of style though!

change their diapers? Around the age of 2 IME.

giving a bath? 2.5 or so depending on the kid and how they feel about water on their face.

I am right there with you guys on the detangler. Took me a while to get the stuff but I LOVE it!!

My boys have always loved getting a bath....it's the getting dressed part that has me wanting to pull my hair out (mostly Nick).

Teeth brushing: we got them the electric spin brushes for toddlers (Target, with Sesame Street characters on them). They get to brush their teeth while I dry them off/put on their PJs after a bath. It's a good distraction, they love the sensation fo the toothbrush, and it does actually get SOME toothbrushing in. Then if I can only manage a 15-30 second brushing all hasn't been lost b/c they spin so quickly that even if I'm not able to get a lot of strokes in it's still doing it for me.

My hair combing trick is QTIPS. My boys LOVE having their ears cleaned out after a bath. I bait them into my lap by showing them a QTIP and then after I finish melting them with a QTIP i quickly brush their hair. (I don't have girl hair to deal w/though).

Mine are okay with all of those things. They fight the diaper and teeth brushing every once in a while, but for the most part it is not common.

They love baths! They fight having to get out.

Well I guess I don't have any clear answers yet. We still have daily fights over teeth brushing. All the other stuff I would say hasn't ever really been an issue for us.

The only thing I might be able to help with is the teeth brushing....we don't have a whole heck of a lot hair, fight with diapers and they like bathtime.

But for teeth brushing, DH and I sing them "The Teeth Brushing Song" It is a very intricate, detailed song...it goes something like..."Brush, brush, brush, brush....brush brush brush brush!" Sung very animated, it causes them to smile which lets us in! So we look a little foolish, but it works!

brush their teeth? My guys love having their teeth brushed. I make it fun though. I sat them on the counter next to the sink, and I brush them, and they get to spit and they have a cup to rinse their mouths out with. They have Dora toothpaste and light up toothbrushes.

comb their hair? They had extremely short hair until recently, and I never combed it, if I did they ran their hands across it and messed it up. So, I just laid it down with my hands. Now that they do have longer hair I comb it and they don't mind.

change their diapers? The easiest way when they are that little is to try and give them something to play with to distract them while you change them.

giving a bath? At 2 it became really easy.

    Speaking for ourselves only...

Teeth, around 2 years. It's gradually getting better.

Comb their hair -- Amy has never had much of a problem. Sarah hates hates hates it, but now that we've cut her hair shorter and it doesn't get as tangled, she's a little more tolerant. It helps if we count to 10 and give it only 10 strokes. She can deal with it if she knows when it will be over. Detangler helps a lot, but conditioner (applied in the bath and rinsed out) seems to help even more.

Change diapers -- comes and goes. I think it was pretty bad around 18 months -- not so bad now.

Baths -- They went through a phase around 22 months when they hated baths, but it only lasted 4-6 weeks (that time, at least). Now they are back to loving them. Plus, a nice development is that they actually stand up on command so I can wash their bottoms.

With my oldest by 2.5- 3 things got easier. I remember the first pro pic I got done that he didn't fight me on and freak out at was at 3. Keep at it though Ilyse... it will get easier! :hug99:

brush their teeth? For us it depends on the day. They love to do everything mommy does so we brush teeth together so they can see what I'm doing. They try their hardest to get them brushed but I always have to help. Some days it goes over good others not so good.

comb their hair? This hasn't been a huge issue in our house. My girls love to have their "pretties" in.

change their diapers?GRRRR! I hate diaper changes!

giving a bath?My girls love baths the hardest thing is getting them out.
