My boys have been eatting Gerber 1st foods for over a month now. We have tried all the kinds and they are getting better at eatting food. When do you start Gerber 2nd foods? My other son is 3 years old but I don't remember when I started 2nd foods with him.

    Thanks Ladies!

We started the second foods once we worked our way through all the 1st fruits and veggies. The single ingredient second foods are no different than the 1st foods, there is just more in the container. Just watch that you are only introducing one thing at a time. With some of the combo foods, like the mixed veggies, I made sure they had all the veggies seperately first before giving them the combo. We are still doing just fruits and veggies though, I plan to ask the pedi at their 6 month appt about when to start the 2nd food dinners with meat and or pasta.

We started 2nd foods when the 1st foods didn't seem to be enough for them. There is a little bit more in the 2nd foods and really not much difference in the texture, etc of them.

There's no difference in the actual foods- just the amount and the variety. So if you've gone thru all the 1st foods- go ahead and get those seconds! There's a lot more yummy choices!! :)

The only difference I found between 1st and 2nd stage is the container size and stage 2 has more combinations - such as stage 1 you may find rice only, chicken and rice well in stage 2 you'll find rice and vegetables combo or chicken, rice and vegetables combo. There's more ingredients in stage 2 or 3 since the tummy should be getting used to digesting a variety of food. Trust your instincts - if you think your babies are ready for a change.....more food (quantity wise) and combinations of food then have them try stage 2.

We started with stage 2 as per the advice of some mommas on here. We just bought the single ingredient stuff first. Most of the stage 1 foods you can buy as songle foods in stage 2 as well.

So that would mean we started with them about 4 months ago. We have recently started some 3's and they love them!

We started them right about that age. As soon as they had tried all the 1st foods we moved right on to the 2nds!
