When do you shower?

I haven't done this yet, but does anyone put their twins in their exersaucers in order to take a quick shower? I usually try shower when they are napping, but naps are not consistent or very long right now, plus I've been trying to go for a jog with them after their morning nap, so when we get home, I'm pretty stinky and they aren't ready for sleep for a couple of hours. They will scream if I leave them in their cribs (though I know its safe)... but they are soooo content when in their exersaucers.

I would never put them in their exersaucers and then walk away to take a shower. Seems too risky to me. If you need a shower that badly and can't wait I would just put them in their cribs and let them cry. You never know, they could end up falling asleep. I shower when DH comes home because by then it's his turn to take over.

I've always done as you mentioned and showered while they are napping.

I usually shower during their morning nap but if there are other things that need to happen during their nap, I will shower while they are lying on their playmat. If I know that they are not hungry, don't need to sleep and can't hurt themselves with any stuff lying around, I just relax and enjoy the moment of peace and quiet. Most times, the two are content on their own and don't even fuss. The odd times when they start to cry, I just let them for a moment until I'm clean and dry. I figure they like being held much better when I don't smell icky :rotflmbo:

Are your twins mobile? If not then I would lay out a blanket and go ahead and shower, it doesn't take but a few mins. This is one reason I babyproofed our room/bathroom, I have always showered with them up and never had a problem.

When they were little I put them each in a bouncy seat in the bathroom with me so I could keep peeking out at them. For the first couple months they would even fall asleep to the sound of the water and fan so I could actually enjoy a shower and have time to get ready (if I kept the shower running ;) ). As they got older I waited till they took a nap. Honestly I usually only get a shower every other day because of inconsistent naps but if I'm really wanting/needing one and I've got one down I'll still pop one in a bouncy or some sort of seat that I can put in the bathroom with me and keep an eye on them. We've moved into my MIL's house and there is no room to stand once I put one seat in there but I still do it from time to time. I'd say if you have a big enough bathroom you could bring something in like that to put them in or just leave them in their cribs. Good luck! I know what a trying experience it is to find time for a shower!! :)

    Agree with Lisa.
I did the same with older son put him in the bouncer seat and took him with me in the shower.
with twins so far I have help at home so I can go to the shower when they are napping. but starting next week I will just put 2 bouncer seats inside our bathroom and put kids there and enjoy the water :) if they allow me to.

I shower after DH gets home and after dinner. That way all he'd need to do is either change a diaper or hand out bottles. Makes it a little easier for him. I think I tried showering once during their am nap [maybe when they were 2 months old] and they were both crying when I got out.. I felt bad so it's been always when DH was home - usually in the evenings :) Just to be safe

I have a pretty big bathroom so I was always able to take in their exersaucers, bouncy seats, bumbo seats, etc. & shower quickly with them sitting in them or I would shower during their morning nap. If I had to leave them where I couldn't actually see them, I would choose the crib or the playpen, they should be safe there, even if they aren't happy about it!

I always took my twins to the bathroom with me while I showered. Even until now. And they are almost 1 year old. I hang jumper from the door for one twin and put another one right next to the other one in jumperoo. They absolutely love jumping together and it gives me at least 10 minutes to shower. BTW- i always took 2 showers a day , I just can't miss it.

I shower when I can start to smell myself :rotflmbo: Seriously though, when they are napping, and I smell lol!

I try to shower during their first nap. I don't get my babies up until they've napped for at least 30 min. (even if it involves crying), so if I take my shower when their nap starts, it all works out fine. When they were younger I would shower before DH left for work or when I had help.

i shower right when the morning nap starts.

if someone is up, i take them into the tiny bathroom and strap them in a bouncer. they are more likely to not start a screaming fit if they can see me.

I either had them in something where I could see them, or put them in their cribs. I have learned the art of the very quick, but efficient, shower!

I still shower at night after they go to bed or when my DH is around.

I shower when they nap, or I will bring bouncers, jumpers, bumbos, whatever into the bathroom with me. It seems with me now my hair gets really greasy and needs washing more than my whole body, so sometimes I just wash my hair in the kitchen sink (keeping the girls right there with me) and take showers once every other day.

I shower at night when my hubby is home. It is nicer because you can be more relaxed without rushing back to the babies. If you have to take one while they are awake and no one else is home then I would put them in their cribs...SAFETY 1st!! Hop in the shower and wash off then right back out, they will be ok for 10 minutes. Do they have something to look at in their crib? Maybe that would help.

i did it once and found it to be a pretty nerve wracking experience. they were fine, fortunately, but i worried about "what ifs" and cut it short. i'm much more comfortable waiting until they're napping and putting the monitor on the bathroom counter so i can hear if something happens.

I work 2nd shift in a dirty smelly enviroment. So when we get home I leave them sleep in their carseats and take my shower...but if it's an off day, I just go after they are fed and both sleep.

I get up before my boys to get ready for work. I shower, dress, makeup, etc. before I wake them up....if I'm lucky. This morning they woke up with my alarm! I had 2 crying boys in the crib while I was scurrying around trying to get ready!

I think I'm going to turn down the volume on the alarm tonight... ;)
