When do you offer milk? water?

The babies are finally done with bottles! They take cold milk from sippies with no problem now...it took a little bit of effort, but the transition has been pretty smooth. For several months, they only practiced with sippies of water or really watered down juice (ie. they didn't seem to drink much) and never really seemed enthused, but they surprised me with their response to milk in a sippy!

So, they used to have two bottles a day (10:30am/3:30pm) and two nursing sessions (morning and night). We are still nursing twice a day, but I am having a hard time figuring out the milk and water now. What does your babies' day look like in terms of liquids? When do you offer and how much at each meal?

    Thanks :)

Mine get a full sippy cup of milk with Breakfast and Dinner, if they drink all of their milk I will re-fill their cups during that time... and dinner means w/ their food, and also the hour or two they play after dinner before bed. They have ice water the rest of the day, usually with just lunch, but if they drink all of their water, again I will refill their cups until the next meal.

I give mine about 6 oz. of milk at breakfast, lunch and dinner. If they drink all of their milk, I'll give them water throughout the day.

I give my twins milk in the 7:30 am, then breakfast 9 am, noon they get stew( they not really in to finger food yet, they eat cheerios, crackers, whole strawberry, slices of fruit, shredded cheese but not real meal of finger food, so stews are best at this point to add all veggies I want them to eat and they eat about 4-5 oz of that). 2:30 milk, 5 dinner, 8 pm milk before bed. They eat snacks and drink water in between feedings.

I started out with milk during the snack times because I didn't want them to "fill up" on milk and not eat their meals, but we've transitioned out of that theory! We have a juice/water mix with breakfast, milk for morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack, and water for dinner. Then they get a little milk during story time before bed.

I give milk first thing in the morning when we take the wagon out and walk the dogs, and during meals and snacks while they're in their high chairs. Water is available all day to them. I also keep a water sippie in their cribs.

We started giving milk only while they were in their high chairs or in the wagon as I couldn't find a sippie that was really leak proof. For me, they all leaked some when they were thrown on the ground and I didn't want that happening all of the time on my carpet. I can wipe up under my high chairs so it's not a big deal there.

For now [cause we just gave up bottles less than a week ago] I give them a sippy of milk around the times I would normally give them their bottles/formula. I plan to wait for their signs to let me know when they're ready to not have 3-4 sippies of milk during the day and then I plan to offer it during meals. [That way they don't fill up on milk during meals and they also get a little fuller 'in between' meals if I give them milk with their snacks].

When mine first went off the bottles, they got milk during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Water sippies throughout the day. We still do water sippies throughout the day but now they get milk with breakfast and after dinner.

    Ditto the bolded part.

We give milk for breakfast (12 oz) and I let them drink that all morning.
I give 4oz juice for lunch and water the rest of the day.

Occasionally I give more milk than that but for the most part thats what we do. Our LOs eat alot of cheese and have yogurt for bedtime snack everynight.
