the girls want to cut their own fingernails. yikes!!! I LET THEM play with the clippers while i was watching and Rachel was tring to cut her own nails... i was "sucking all the oxygen out of the room", so afraid she would cut herself and then she would never let me try to cut her nails again. any tips on cutting the nails of ever independent 2yr olds?
My two will play with them, and DD has actually given daddy a manicure with a clothes pin! (lol) There is no way though that they are ready to clip their own nails with the clipper! Mine are 25 months old (2 years, 1 month).
I think they still may have to wait a few years!! is there a pretend manicure set u could get? I'm still doing ours and they're 4 and I can see me doing it for a few years yet amanda
It's really funny you posted this, because while I was clipping Rita's nails before bed, I thought to myself, "I wonder how old they'll be before they can clip their own nails." Luckily this is one thing that so far they haven't pitched a fit about doing themselves. They do sort of askand they want to hold the clippers, but they aren't completely entrenched the way they are about some things, so it's easy enough to talk them into letting me do it. So I have no advice, but good luck! I think the PP had a good suggestion about getting a play manicure set. Mine also really like to use a nail file -- I have those big oversized ones that aren't rough, and they like to play with those. Maybe you could try including that in your little nail-cutting ritual and they would be OK just doing that part themselves?
I still clip my girls' nails. Maybe you can get them a nail file to play with but I wouldn't let them use the clipper.
NO way would I let them at this age....they are fascinated by it, but no way could they do it themselves...yep, I would have a heart attack! LOL!
