I have no idea when it is time to lower the crib mattress. When they are sitting? My girls just started rolling from tummy to back, but they aren't doing it consistently. I think we're safe for a while yet, aren't we?

I think you have some time. I lowered mine when the babies started showing interest in pulling up. I couldnt imagine if i had decided to wait...

I did it around 6 or 7 months.

I lowered mine when I went in cause everything was "too quiet" and my son was standing in the corner of the crib with his sister looking up at him smiling!

I think you've got some time yet. We're going to lower ours today because Roman seems really interested in pulling on the top rail, and I just don't know where he will go from there.

Agree with PP's. We just lowered Daniel's since he has started to show interest in pulling up. I really don't think he could get himself out but I just think "what if?". So we lowered it. Ben can hardly roll over so we've left his.

We lowered ours once they started pulling up. I just didn't want to risk any head over feet tumbles.

We dropped ours completely soon as they started pulling up. Why mess with the in-between levels!

We just lowered DD at 9 1/2 months old. She was starting to pull up so we did it.

Mine lowers twice. I lowered it the first time around 5 months and then lowered to the lowest level at 8 months for my daughter.

I lowered it when they were sitting or crawling, whichever came first!

Sitting/scooting. And even though there was a middle level, we just lowered it all the way to the bottom.

I was wondering when to lower the crib too. I am glad you posted.

    Hi,

Just wanted to share a personal experience with this one. . .My son was just about 7 months old and barely showing interest in pulling himself up. . .when one morning I woke up to blood-curdling screams. . .He had somehow crawled out of bed, over the railing, and ended up on the floor. . .He broke his forearm and had a cast on for 2 months!! Some of the doctors and nurses in the ER (mostly the ones WITHOUT children) treated me as if I was abusing my son. . .So I love to caution everybody to move the mattress down BEFORE you think you will need it. . .We NEVER would of thought our son would have been able to get out of his crib!!

I would just love to be able to prevent another little "monkey" from escaping and getting hurt!

We lowered ours just the other day, to the lowest setting, the babies are rolling over both ways and are getting their legs up underneath them while on their tummy's - they are not pulling themselves up at all, but I just would rather be safe then sorry. IMHO no need to go through levels just drop it straight to the bottom level to be on the safe side.

Same here. Once we saw Hailey trying to pull up, we decided to drop it. And it didn't make sense to use the middle levels, so we went right down to the lowest one.

Wow, thanks for sharing this! I think we'll lower ours this weekend, when the babies turn 6 months.

And i agree with everyone who is lowering it all the way. Especially with how difficult it is to lower, no point in doing it more than once.

Bless your heart. Thanks for the warning. I have been having nightmares that I woke up and my girls were out of their cribs. I will have DH fix this ASAP.
