When do they stop...

My DD particularly but also my DS both "grunt" at night (make all these little sounds). I know it is normal for them to make sounds etc., but now that they are 2 and 1/2 months old, I was hoping it would stop soon. I try to ignore the sounds at night when I listen to the monitor, but it is really hard to ignore them sometimes (and makes it difficult for me to sleep). Every time I hear a sound, I think it is one of them starting to cry, so I lay awake listening...and then it usually ends up just being one of their "grunt" noises.

Anyone else have experience with this?

For us it stopped around six months. We turned off the monitor at two months as a result. If they cried, we could hear them, so not having the monitor on helped everyone sleep.

Both of my DS' were such grunters I had to buy a white noise machine for our bedroom just to get a few minutes of sleep before I had to get up and feed them again. Mostly for them it was their reflux bothering them. For the most part it settled down after they got on meds. I am not saying yours have reflux..it just went hand in hand for my boys. It finally stopped when we moved them into their own room LOL!! They will outgrow it at some point.

I've got grunters too. It drives me crazy when im trying to sleep! I think its natural to grunt a little, but if it seems excessive I would ask your pedi about it. I think they will grow out if it, hopefully sooner than later...

I thought that we had two little piggies in our room at night time. On the second month we moved them into their room because I wouldn't get any sleep. So I guess I don't know when it stopped but they sure did sound funny.

Just noticing that our twins are roughly the same age, and I have a Jack as well! Jack especially is a crazy little grunter. When my mom watches them overnight, she always says that she can't sleep because of all his noises - and she says Anna does it too. I think sometime in the early days of complete and utter exhaustion, I learned to tune it out and sleep through all but full out crying. Probably not a good mommy, but I am getting sleep. :p

OMG! My ds grunted so loud!!! And when he ate he was noisy...little piggy!
I think they both stopped the sleep grunting aroung 2 1/2 months...but I am not for sure because that is when they got moved to their own room and the monitor got turned WAY down-I couldnt sleep through all that noise! :)
