When do they stop putting everything in their mouth?

Right now every toy within seconds of them grabbing it, goes right into their mouths! When does this slow down and they start to play with toys more then they suck them?

 

Umm...my eight year old still chews on things! Not sure there's any end it sight for you just yet but try to remind yourself that mouthing toys and objects is how they learn about them. They do eventually start to actually play with things instead of just try to eat them! We used to say they never know what might be food!

 

It was around 9-10 months that they started to actually play with their toys instead of just using them to chew on, but one of mine still puts most things in her mouth before playing.

 

My 11monthers still put EVERYTHING in their mouths! They are so orally fixated!!!

 

My 16 monthers still put everything in their mouth. So did my oldest dd too.

 

Like pps...around a year, mine actually started playing with toys, but they still put stuff in their mouths. Last night, while walking around the yard, they decided to taste pine cones! Go figure!

 

Mine still put things in their mouth, but not everything. Gradually they have been doing it less and less. But for some reason my DS still loves dog hair. I don't know why. If he spots a pile of dog hair he crawls as fast as he can over there and puts it in his mouth and then turns to look at me and starts laughing. I am usually able to pull it out before he can swallow it, but seriously! GROSS!
