Right now my boys go down at 6pm and wake about 6-630 am. Now I am not complaining at all about how much they sleep..I'm just wondering when do they start going to bed later and getting up later? I cannot see having them stay up later b/c by 545 they are whining, crying and starting to get miserable..I've tried giving them something to eat and they just want to have a bottle and go to bed. So since they are going to bed so early they are getting up early. Not sure when this changes...or if there is anything I can really do about it

Mine go to bed a bit later than yours usually around 6:30-7p and then get up anywhere from 6am-7:30. If they are just babbling and not screaming for food I will not go in right away and sometimes they go back to sleep on their own for a quick cat nap. They just started sleeping a bit later in the morning.

If you buy into what HSHHC says, keeping them up later would probably make them wake up earlier, if anything! The theory is that the less well-rested you are, the harder it is to sleep. Weissbluth says that earlier bedtimes often help babies sleep later.

Sounds like your babies have a great bedtime. How are they in the morning? Like pp said, if they're just babbling, I'd leave them. Mine go down at 7, DS wakes up around 6:30, DD around 7-7:30, and if they're awake but happy, I just leave them in the crib.

They wake up babbling and laughing at each other but by 7 they must get up..they start crying..I'm wondering when they start sleeping til 8 or 9? We have had a day or two in which they somehow were not cranky and stayed up until about 8 but they were still up around 6 or 7 so I figure if they are tired at 6..put them down at 6..at least they will get more sleep since they get up at 6-630 anyway!

I wish I knew! Mine go down about 7pm and usually wake up at 630am, 7am at the latest ... My DS will hang out and quietly play, but DD wants us once she wakes up ... she cries and whines until we go in there, and as soon as she sees one of us, she is all smiles. Makes me laugh every time. This weekend we got off schedule because we had to attend a birthday party ... we didn't get home until 715pm and the kids got changed and had their bottles and were asleep by 830pm ... i was hoping that they would sleep in ... no such luck, wake up time was the same. So I think it's probably just their internal clock.

    Ummm... High school maybe???

From all I hear/read & my own experience, most kids are up and ready to go around 6:30-7, and there's not a lot you can do about it. Sorry! I wish mine would sleep later too...

I hate to sound snarky, but i'm so exhausted that if mine slept from 6:30 - 6:30 i'd be dancing naked on the roof while swinging a chicken over my head! :D

    That is hilarious.

Mine go down between 6:45-7:00 and will sleep till between 6-7am. If we have had a late nite and they go to bed later they are still up at the same time and sometimes earlier. So we try to stick to the earlier bedtime because it seems to work for them.

I've been where you are and I know it is not fun. I'm just curious as to how those who have babies going to bed around 8 or 9 actually do it? B/c it seems theirs sleep until 8 or so the next day..I'm fascinated.

I'm extremly jealous right now! My girls WERE sleeping from about 7:30 pm until 5am and that was GREAT! But for the last month and a half - they have been getting up at 12:30 am - then again at 3:30 am! They will fall back to sleep around 4am and get up between 5 - 6:30 - It's terrible! They do have colds and are teething so I hope it's just a phase! I need to get this Weisbluths book! Their bedtime now is 6:30 - 7:00. I just hope they don't fall into a routine with this getting up. I hate to feed them when they get up - but they will drink 5oz each when they do! So I don't have any advice for you - but you are obviously doing a great job! I hope mine sleep through soon!

We have tried early bedtimes (6pm) and late bedtimes (after 8Pm)...makes no difference my two are still usually up at 6am...I'm very lucky if they even sleep till 6:30/7am. Normally my DD will wake at 5:45am BUT I decided that unless they are crying or screaming I don't go get them till as close to 6:30am as I can ;) My two go to bed at 6:30pm as that works for us and I like that this way I know they are getting a good 11/12 hours of sleep.
