When do the second year molars come in?

I know this sounds horrible but my DS is hard core teething, drooling like mad and chewing on his fingers. He won't let me look in his mouth but he pretty much has all of his teeth, except for the 2nd year molars (I think, from what I can tell via the 2 second glimpses I do get). Is this too early for those teeth to come in? I'm not the world's biggest fan of teething but if these are the last teeth for him then I'll be happy he won't have to go through it anymore.

Does he have his eye teeth? If so, then the 2 yr molars could be coming in now. Mine are early teethers and already had their 2 yr molars by 17 months. That could be what it is!! It's NOT fun.

My boys had teething symptoms off and on for their 2nd year molars for (and I'm not exaggerating here) almost a year. They madness started at 19 months and I posted then asking if it really could be those molars so early because they had all of their other teeth and there were a few ladies who said their kids got them right at 2 and yes, it could be that. Of course, we didn't actually have a single molar break the skin until almost 30 months so it was ridiculous how those teeth teased and taunted us. They'd get the swollen gums and I could feel the points just under the skin and then they'd recede and give us a few weeks off. Repeat, repeat, repeat... I hope yours get past it more quickly.

Ugh! I am so over teething! My girls just got their fangs in (M all 4 at once and S 2 at a time), I thought we were done, those were worse than the molars! Now you tell me there are 2yr molars?!?!

Are eyeteeth the same as incisors? If they are, Luke got his all at the same time and if he is just starting with drooling and the rest of the fun stuff again...these new teeth could take a while? Yikes! Cohlee, I am with you, I am so over teething it's not funny

Eyeteeth = canines (a lot of kids cut them around 18 months)

I thought the canines were awful until we went through the 2nd molars...

Two year molars take the cake. For sure! We took ONE YEAR to get the one year old ones all the way thru like you debi!! It was horrific. This has been MUCH faster but MUCH more painful (literally AND figuratively!)

    Good lucki! MOTRIN MOTRIN MOTRIN

I think Jackson has been working on his 2-year molars for many months - at least six. Still no sign of the little buggers. Jacob is still working on those incisors, but those have been so bad with him that I dread his 2-year molars!!

I honestly found the first few teeth when they were 6 to 7 months were the worst so far. Mine are getting there first molars in right now and it hasn't been to bad. They have days were they are more cranky and drooly then others but they seem to handle it bettter now..maybe because they are older :unknw:
I sure hope it stays that way.
Sorry it's so rough for you right now.

One of mine got them at 18 months and the other is two in a few weeks and still doesn't have them. Depends on the kid.

Logan has all his other teeth and is teething like crazy so we assume it's the 2nd year molars he is working on. So far his thees have come in quickly so I'm hoping that is the case with these. Mason still has a couple others to go, he's gotten teeth slower all along and it's been harder on him. With our experience with Logan and these molars I'm already dreading Mason's coming in!

At 15 months old, my both boys cut all four of their canines/eyeteeth and all four one year molars between 15-16 months old...not fun.

Second year molars came in around the holidays so 22 months for us.

Glad to be done with that for them for a while...now I've gotta survive baby girl.

Wow. I find that kind of odd.. my girls got their 'eye teeth' before their two front teeth [which haven't fully come in yet]. I think it's possible he's getting his 2-yr molars. I hope so for his sake!

Mine both had all their 1-year molars (and their incisors, which were way worse than the molars) by their first birthday, but didn't get their 2-year molars until sometime after their second b'day.

I was never sure when they were teething with those, because at that age they didn't do the typical drooling/chewing -- and though they were sometimes cranky, there are a lot of things that make a 2-year-old cranky! And they wouldn't let me look in their mouths, either. So I just gave Motrin when they seemed extra cranky for no apparent reason. They were all in by the third birthday, but I have no idea exactly when they came in.

2nd year molars for Lauren (who sprouted her first tooth at 5 months) came in around 23/24 months, and Emma doesn't have any yet.

Lauren was a super easy teether, even with the 1 year molars. But that child was MISERABLE with the 2nd year molars. :(
