Im just wondering if any of you have got or are looking for the next set of carseats. My boys are about 17 pounds right now...and just seem SOOO long in the seats I have now...their little feet hang over! I have no idea when to get the next set, or what kind to get!!! Anyone have any advice!?!?!?!

we have the chicco car seats and ours are good to 30lbs n ot sure about the length. They say one year is best and whatever your seat is rated to. I think we will be getting the britex Marathon. Remeber to keep them rear facing as long as possible, it is the safest thing for them.

Mine are still in their infant seats at 10 mo. old. My babies are 15 lbs and 20 lbs. I would check the seat and see what the weight requirements are. It should be stuck to the seat. We got our babies the convertable seats that go from 5-40 lbs but we have not used them yet. Evenflo Triumph seat.

I wanted to keep my little ones in their infant seats as LONG as possible. I feel like they are so much safer and easier!

At 5 months I took DS out of his infant seat because he was 27 1/2 inches and 20 lbs. His feet had been hanging over for over a month but all I did was move them when I snapped the car seat in and he bent his legs a little big. He didn't look uncomfortable at all...You can also try putting the shoulder straps on the highest setting. The should straps should always be even with the top of their shoulders or a little higher- never lower!

I researched and researched and researched car seats. And even did a few postings on this site.
I ended up going with the Alpha Omega Elite. I COULD afford the expensive Britax ones but I saw them as a waste.
Since I have big babies I wanted a car seat that went above 40 lbs so I wouldn't have to buy each of them a 3rd car seat. Because you cannot take them out of it until they are 4 AND 40 lbs. This car seat goes up to 100 lbs. It turns into a booster, so I could keep my children in it until they are 10 if I wanted to. I probably wont cause that is cruel. But knowing I have the option is a plus. I almost got the Britax cause I really wanted the leopard print! Just cause it was hot! But I got over that quickly and just got plain black...

You could even switch to those now if you want cause they start at 6 lbs, I think.
I also have a VW Passat and I am 5'9" and they both fit behind the driver and passenger seats without making it uncomfortable, leg room wise....

    Hope I helped :)

Convertible car seats do start with weight ranges at 5-6 pounds, so if you think they are ready to be moved, it should probably be okay. Double check all of the weight info and such on your current seats, along with the ones you will be looking into. GL!

We moved them to the convertibles cars eats when they were sitting up well, around 9 months.

We moved to the convertible seats when they were 6 months old and we couldn't WAIT! They were nowhere near sitting unassisted but they did just fine. I'm not sure how tall they were or how much they weighed but (hmmm, is this possibly the reason ts'ers put their babies monthly weights in their signature???) they were by no means outgrowing the infant seats - they just despised them! We were so desperate to try anythin to get them to stop screaming in the car. It worked like a charm. They just really did not like those seats. We have one Cosco Alpha Omega Elite and one Evenflo Triumph. We love the Evenflo but are not so crazy about the Alpha. It's not terrible but it's obviously less comfortable than the Evenflo.
