Just wondering when your twins started to consistently SSTN. Mine are 2.5 months and we're still getting 3-4 hours at a stretch. I'm BFing and I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Happy holidays to everyone!

Mine started STTN after we did Ferber at 8 1/2 months. They were formula-fed and waking for one bottle a night at that point. I think we had 2-3 feedings a night until after 6-7 months.

ETA: DD STTN about 2-3 times around 5 months, and then not until we did Ferber. DS never STTN until we did Ferber.

Mine had EBM unitl 6mo and then formula-the switch to formula did not help them sttn- what did it was IMO 1)they started taking in enough formula/ebm during the day...4 8oz bottles per day 2) started some solids and 3) a bit of CIO.
We started off with CIO at around 7.5 months and I decided that we would wait 5 minutes to see if they stop crying and go back to sleep and then then next night wait 10 and the next 15...we NEVER had to wait longer then 5 minutes...I was going in way to soon! By 8 months they were very rarely waking through the night at all.
I do think that 6 months or so is when they are able to self sooth but before then they need a little help or to eat.

The girls STTN a little after 8 months old... when it became impossible to 'dream feed' them before DH and I went to bed. They were bottle-fed formula and I don't think the method of content of feeding had anything to do with STTN.

Cant vote 'cause mine don't sttn yet. They are 6 months and they get 1-2 bottles of formula a day and the rest is EBM and nursing.

I can say that it doesn't matter for my guys--solids haven't helped either.

Mine are 11 months, bF, and still don't sleep through the night regularly.

I was not sure what you consider sttn… my Dr considered sttn 6 hr… UM NO!!! my parents thought 8hrs was sttn um NO again… 10 hr is what I consider sttn… so I voted 2-3 m as they were sleeping 8 hr at 8w and 10 hr by 10w and 12 hr by 12w… but now we are at about 11 and half hours average...

I voted 2-3 months. When my DS would wake in the night to eat, I'd always wake DD too (she was always stirring anyways)....but one night, she looked zonked so I let her sleep, and she didn't wake until like 7 am (going to bed at 9pm)! So from then on I stopped waking her, and just feeding DS at night, and she only woke up like 2 more nights, a week later, and STTN ever since. It took DS about another few weeks, but once he did it, he continued STTN. It would not let me NOT vote for yes or no if I thought the the method of feeding was due or not, and I don't really know...but since I had to pick, I picked yes, because I had been giving bottles of EBM with supplementing with formula, at the beginning, and nights they had a bottle of formula last vs EBM, they slept a lot better.

My two still arent consistently STTN and they are 10 months old.
my DS is exclusively BF, while my DD is bottle fed both formula & EBM. I can tell you my DD has always been teh better sleeper of the two and *most* nights she is the one who STTN.

They go through peaks and lulls of sleep. You have to remember breastmilk is considered the "perfect" food for babies and digest very quickly. They have to refill their tiny tummies often. You also need that stimulation to keep up production so find a sleeping arrangement that makes for as much sleep as posible. GL!

I consider STTN when they sleep for 8 hrs straight. They wake up to eat once and then are up for the day around their 12-hr mark.

With that said, my ladies have been STTN since they were about 2.5 - 3 months old up until they were about 4.5 months old. This is when they started sparatically waking up 2 or 3 times at night [like newborns again!]. I started feeding them rice cereal a couple weeks ago - this helped a little, but we still had a night or two in there where one [of both] would wake up 2-3 hrs after going to bed. Then I heard that if babies don't get what they need during the day, then they'll wake during the night to feed.

After that I went from one to two rice cereal feedings during the day [one closer to bedtime]. They've been sleeping like the little angels that they are since ^_^

    Btw, we formula feed.

My girls started to sttn at about 10 weeks. We bottle feed bm and formula - I feed them bm mid-day because they seem to get hungry faster after that than formula. I don't know for sure of it made a difference, but my pedi said that formula was more caloric.

I didn't answer the poll because we aren't there yet but wanted to chime in that for the last three nights they have slept from 8:30 AM until 6:30 AM and the only thing we have done different is increase the amount they are eating in the day (because they were consistently finishing their bottles). I am sure this is short-lived but up until now they were waking at about 4:00 AM - eating and going right back to sleep so that isn't too bad either!

Mine started sleeping through (ie, waking up late enough that they're up for good) at 7 months exactly. We didn't have to use any sleep method, they just did it on their own. Still sleeping 11-12 hours at night 3 months later.
