When did your twins first notice each other?

I realize that 2 1/2 months is a bit early for my guys to find each other... but I just can't wait for that time to come! They are interacting so much us now, LOTS of smiling and laughing and cooing. But it seems like they refuse to even look at each other! I put them face to face and I swear they go out of their way to not look at each other. It's really funny. So how old were your twins when they first noticed each other?

It was around 3 months when they'd actually look at each other. By 3 1/2-4 months they were interacting, and now at almost 5 months they grab at each other & talk to each other.

This is exactly the same for us too!

It was about 4 months for my little guys to look at each other. Until then, even when DH and I would hold them right up to each other, they'd look everywhere but their brother! Now, at 6 months, they're starting to "talk" to each other and reach for the other's face or hands!

OK, mine must not be the norm, because they are over 7 months old and still just play independently. They will steal each other's nuks out of thier mouths/hands, but they don't laugh at each other or smile - they do watch each other, but actual interaction doesn't occur.

Mine are three months and we had them in the mirror the other day and they looked at each other then started the serious study then a huge smile but i think we have some time before they interact... :)

    Kendra,

My girls are like your boys :) They steal each others toys and look at each other, but are only just starting to interact more. But I think that has more to do with the stealing of the toys :p

My twins started smiling at each other right at 3 months. They just turned 4 months and they grab each other's hands or try to lick them. I sit them in their exersaucers next to each other and they frequently look at each smiling. One of the twins is constantly pulling the other's hair. They aren't able to sit up, etc. yet so I'm sure that type of interaction is still a few months away.

oh! i'm glad to read some of these other posts- i thought mine were antisocial too! they LOVE us, the sitter, other people, but seem to be intermittently aware of eachother. occassionally they will study the other and kind of give a giggle, but it is usually more of a stealing hte others toys/pacifier type interaction. they poke and prod eachother during tandem nursing and if they roll into eachother during play, but aren't really interested in playing together, per se. but they are both happy, and i am sure the day will come when i have to PRY them off eachother!!!

I wonder what makes some play with each other right away and others not so much ... mine do the same thing during nursing, they reach across and hold hands or sabatoge each other's nursing efforts, it's pretty funny. I think it will be so cute when they hang out together playing, but for now like you said, they are both happy babies and we'll just have to wait and see!

I guess mine are out of the norm. The will just sit & suck on their binks & look at each other for quite a while... They have been doing so since they were about 2 weeks old... I have always laid them down right next to each other & they will turn their heads to look at each other. Come to think of it I actually have a picture of them in the hospital looking at each other & holding hands, but who knows if they actually saw each other... but they kept holding hads... they always wanted to touch. Anyways though around 2 weeks they really started. When I nursed instead of looking at me they would look at each other! Then around 4 or 5 weeks ( I would have to look at the calander) We were laying in bed & they were looking at each other... they spat out their binkies & were cooing at each other. It was amazing to watch! Luckily both hubby & I were right there to see it. I can't wait until they start smiling at each other... they are just starting to smile more for us.

Mine were about 3 1/2 months. The first time I saw one look at each other intently, and smile, and the other smile back, I thought my heart would melt. Now they love to sit in their bumbos or bouncy seats and babble on and on to each other. They also love to be touching in their crib. I love getting them up from naps and seeing how they are laying together. When I tandem nurse, if Ethan is underneath Kellan, he squirms, kicks, and repeatedly karate chops Kellan in the head. But if Kellan is underneath, he's just like, 'whatever'. That's kind of their personalities, and how they were in the womb.
    So fun!!!

DD has been interested in DS since about 4mo, just in the last 2 weeks or so has DS started looking at DD more. DD grabs for her brother and is always pulling on his shirt, like "c'mere you".

We were about 3 1/2 and now at 9 months they play together. More like scheming! They remind me of the Rugrats always plotting against me lol

I agree it was probably around 3 months or so although they would hold hands right from birth. I don't think they really realized it was another person, though, just an extension of themselves maybe. They are soooo cute now, they love each other especially Luke adores Lila. He follows her around laughing & squealing if she so much as looks at him. Sometimes I think she just tolerates him but other times she really enjoys him, they "talk", wrestle, chase each other around the room, it is so cute!

About 4 months for ours. They love to smile and laugh at each other. They hold hands while they're nursing too now. It's so cute. They've also started to steal blankets and toys from each other.
