At our 4 month check DS was 15 lbs 8 oz. He is still won't go more than 4 hours (maybe 5 once in a while) without eating at night. He is exclusively breastfed.

At what age or weight do you think I can expect that he'll go longer without eating (i'm thinking like from 10pm to 6 am - 8 hrs, that's not too much to ask is it?)

Just an example, he goes to bed at 6:30pm, and nurses at 10/11pm, 3am, 6am.

    TIA!

Our boys stopped eating at night around 4.5 months, but they were bottle-fed. I don't remember their weights, but Gabe was 50th percentile and Mike was 90th percentile, so they were good size for their age. We did a dream feed at 10pm, and for about a month before they stopped eating at night, they would need to eat about 4-4:30am. Then all the sudden one night, they went until 6am all on their own, and kept that for quite awhile.

You won't like my answer :( Mine stopped eating at night around 6.5/7 months. At that point, they were just taking an ounce or two and then wanted to play. E was 18lbs at 4 months and still would take a full bottle at midnight and 4am. E was 21lbs when he finally stopped eating at night. Once they stopped taking full bottles at 6.5/7 months, we did a modified CIO with them and they started going from 7:30pm to 6:30am.

My DD was bf as well and we sleep trained her at 7.5 months -and she stopped nursing at night and STTN.
Breastmilk digests in 2 hrs.....so a 4 month old is still young to be not eating at night IMO!

Mine are also breastfed and they stopped waking up at night around 7 / 7.5 months. They weighed only 14.5 lb at that point.

Mine is starting to do it right now. Have you started cereal in the evenings? That seems to have done the trick for my DS. I nurse him around 5, then give him 1.5 tbsp cereal at 6 followed by a bath, more nursing and then bed at 7. The earliest he's woken up since we started this is 2 am. His usual wake-up is 4 am. So he goes 7 pm - 4 am and then after 4 he goes back to bed til 7 am. One time so far he's done 7 pm - 7 am. Can't wait til he does that again.

ETA: My DS is around 17 lbs and almost 4 months old.

My twins did not stop nursing at night until I night weaned them at 11 months. (They had previously slept through the night on many occasions, but regressed).

My DD is 6 months old now and she still nurses 1-2 times a night. She is a whopping 18.5 lbs. I am in no hurry to night wean her, as babies certainly could be hungry at night. I know I get hungry if i haven't eaten in a few hours.

sorry to tell you this, but mine used to get up once at night to eat until I did CIO at 8months old (as I was exhausted), they were on solids at that time, eating and drinking well, and I felt I could no longer do it, so I made the decision to end the night-time feeds. And it only took 2 nights and they have never woken again to feed at night - its wonderful!
Good luck, hang in there, it might take a little while longer.

I totally jinxed myself by posting that my 4 month old was STTN! Now he's back to getting up twice a night! :80:

I just started cereal, I nurse him a little at 4:30 ish, then at 5:30 he ate 3 tablespoons of cereal (mixed with 3 oz of EBM), and he went to bed at 7:00pm. He woke up at 11:30 to eat and again at 4:30... SO FRUSTRATING since I am also exhaused from night wakings of the other two kids.

With the three kids combined, last night I was woken up every 2 hours all night long....

In my opinion at 4 months if he wants to eat with no sign of slowing you might be stuck. I am not sure weight even matters at 4 months if he isn't STTN on his own. My girls were BF and one started STTN at 7.5 months and the other at 11 months - we weaned at 10 months. We were also tiny. I am sorry don't remember weights but had to be around 15 and 17 lbs. I wonder like PP said if starting some cereal might help. Sounds like he is a hungry little guy! :) Good luck.
