When did your girls start using utensils good?

My girls just turned one on Sat. and they are much for their forks and spoons. I give them one at each meal but usually they just hold onto it. My DS was using utensils at 12 mo. but he is also advanced in his motor skills. So just curious as to when the typical time is that girls start using utensils rather than their hands? Thanks for any advice.

My girls could use utensils well at about 16/18 months? They'd still sometimes rather use their hands now at almost 2!

 

My kids are still a work-in-progress when it comes to utensils. Somedays, they are very good - other days we get a lot "help you" (which is how they ask for help) at meal times. They CAN use a fork fairly well, but often like us to help them or use their hands. Spoons are harder, but DD is actually pretty good when she wants to be.

 

My girls are 16 months old and utensils are still hit or miss around here.

 

My girls are still honing their utensil skills. I blame myself as I haVe not given them much opportunity to practice until recently.

 

My boys just started getting the hang of a fork in the past few months. They can use a spoon but it's more of a dip so we still spoon feed them most of the time.
