i'm not talking about that one random smile you saw that you didnt see again for a month, but when did your babies start to give you that smile routinely, like when could you make them do it 'on cue'? my girls dont seem to be interested in smiling yet, but i know not to be worried, and possibly their adjusted age (1 month) may play a role in this. what kinds of things did you find yourself doing that made them smile? thanks

ahh...I remember the days of waiting for smiles! mine didn't start smiling as a reaction to people until around 11-12wks old. Prior to that they would randomly smile during the day at anything - the wall, the lamp, but rarely at people! Hang in there, it will come!

J started smiling at me regularly at 9 weeks, R didn't start smiling regularly at me until 11 weeks. Before that, we'd occasionally get smiles at things or at us but it was nothing regular. They were born around the same time as your twins.

One of the most nerve-wracking things about twins is that they don't hit milestones at the same time. I tend to worry so as soon as one baby starts something new, I worry until the other one does. Now I am starting to get used to the idea that they are different people and each focus on developing different skills. Makes me worry less anyway!

    Hope this helps :)

One of mine at 8 weeks (about 2 weeks after he smiled for the first time). He's a super flirt and is always smiling - particularly at strangers for attention. The other we couldn't get a for sure first smile out of until about 10 weeks (he did this little mona lisa like smiles before then where one side of his lips tilted up, but not a full open mouth gummy grin with crinkled eyes and everything until 10 weeks) and it was probably about 3 weeks after that before he really started to do it all the time (ironically only for us - he's super shy around strangers and always has been). Just shows you that they are totally different people.

Mine were 8 weeks early and that was the only milestone that seemed like it took them forever to master. It was probably closer to 12 weeks when we could smile at them and they would smile back.

My DS is a total flirt too and started smiling responsively around 6 weeks when we would stroke his chin and make funny noises. My DS is more of a serious chickadee and she wasn't a regular smiler til closer to 12 weeks. In the beginning I would get them to smile by making the brrrr vibrating lips sound. Shortly thereafter they started smiling when we would smile or make funny faces or tickle them :) So fun!!!!!

One started at 7 weeks actual age and one not until 12 weeks  I thought I would loose my mind from about 9 weeks on. Now she's just as smiley as can be!

My boys started smiling at about 9 weeks and now they smile at every person that looks at them, they take after their father and love the attention!!! LOL! I always get lots of smiles when I sit them on my knee and talk to them, they like to look at your face and when you smile they smile right back, it melts my heart every time, Im sure it wont be long before your babies start

My girls just started smiling a lot in the last couple weeks. All we really have to do is talk to them & squeeze their cheeks or tickle them. They would have been about 1 month adjusted at that time. I love seeing those baby smiles!!

Mine were about 8 weeks old when they started smiling semi-regularly; but it was still a big challenge to get them to do it. By about 12 weeks they were smiling fools. :)

Cute story (at least I think it's cute)--when they were 8 weeks old, we took a trip to my parents home because DH had a business school reunion in the same town. So we had gone out that Sat. to the reunion event while my parents watched the bubs. When we got home, DH went to check in on our little "sleeping" angels, and he came into our room cracking up and said that I had to go see something. Finn was lying in the pack n play, wide awake, just smiling in the dark over and over again. I guess he was practicing!

Molly started smiling at 2 months, Stefan started about a few days after. They smile at us all the time now. They smile when we smile at them or when we talk to them with a smile. It usually is a response thing. Many times when the see us they will just break out into a smile. It's great. Now they have added talking to it! Molly is my little social bug, while Stefan looks like he would rather listen and put in his 2 cents worth here and there.

I honestly don't remember with the twins...but Olivia started social smiling around 3.5-4 months old.

They started really smiling at 2 months, but they have really kicked it up lately.
