When did your babies roll over?

I have no idea when this could happen. Lyla is large and she looks like she'll do it first - her arm keeps getting in her way and she has no idea what the problem is - kind of funny. Anyway - just curious about everyone else's little munchkins. :)

My DD did this around 4months and my DS was not until 6months. Once my DD did it she did it very sporadically once her brother started she realized she could do it and they have not stopped since.

Ours did around 6/7 months. But my guys were also 10 weeks premature so they will be late in pretty much everything developmentally by 10 weeks.

At 5 months, Nicholas rolled from back to stomache (seamus a little sooner)
At 6 1/2 months they could roll both ways.

My DD rolled from her stomach to her back at about 4 months and from her back to her stomach at about 5.5 months. My DS started rolling in both directions at about 5.5 months (a few days after his sis rolled from her back to her tummy for the first time.) I think that he watches her do all the practicing and just copies her. :p

I have been wondering the same thing. Mine seem to think they want to try a little but haven't figured it out yet. Let me know when yours do.

My girls went belly to back a couple of days before 4 months. Then they did nothing until they started rolling both ways at 7 months. They were a little delayed.

DS - tummy to back ~ 2 months (holy cow!), back to tummy ~ 4 months

DD - tummy to back just a couple times around 2.5-3 months, completely lost interest; back to tummy, shortly after, and does it all the time.

Babies are so different! It's amazing.

Really...mine already go from belly to back. They have been. Usually because we put them on their tummy and they didn't want to be there. I guess they were just mad enough.

Lorien rolled over at 4 months. Arwen (who was my chunkamama...and still is ;) ) didn't roll over until 8 months!! I swear it was because her belly was just in the way from her getting all the way over. She rolled onto her side forever and I kept thinking she was going to do it but she would just stay there and then roll back.

  14. Mine both did the week of their 4 month birthday.

Aric has rolled over from his tummy to his back a couple of times, and Angelo has done it once. Nothing consistant though. The look on their faces when they do roll over is priceless.

Funny you should ask! Isaac did belly to back starting about 2-3 weeks ago. This morning, I put Jorden on his playmat that he loves to look at while I hopped in the shower real quick...came out to check on him and he was on his tummy. I missed it!!!!

I think Patrick may have been 4 months but Kev was more like 5. It took longer with the twins than my oldest though.

Ben 6 months, Hannah never. No seriously, she never rolled. Maybe an occasional accidental one, but never. I was so worried and we finally were accepted for PT, then she started crawling. She could sit up, no joke, from laying straight on her back (and just pop up into a sitting position). Anyways, it freaked me out at the time. But she is now a bright, VERY coordinated toddler. Go figure.

Karis rolled at 12 weeks. Selah and Noelle at 13 and a half weeks (today!). I don't really think there's THAT much to it though. Karis really didn't roll over that much at all, even when she got to be 7, 8, 9 months. She just didn't roll. But she sat up at 5 months and walked at 9 and a half.

DS did belly to back at 3 mos and hasn't been consistent with it on a daily basis. Back to belly he needs more work. He has such chubby little legs I find it is harder for him to move. DD has been the total opposite and can do back to belly (at around 4 1/2 mos) and needs work with belly to back. Its funny that they each did the other first... I am an OT and am a strong advocate for making your babies work a bit every day (of course we have more fun than work), so try to practice with them everyday even if it's once or twice on the floor or in their crib...They love to look at faces (especially yours!) so if you get face to face on the floor w/ them they might be more willing to try or use a toy to make them turn their heads in the right position. You sometimes have to move their little arms for them until they get it too. Try extending it (the arm) up straight or tucking it in like you would if you were to roll over, they don't know what to do yet with all their extremities. Even if you grab at their ankles and initiate the roll for them (back to belly) they may start to understand. You could even place them on a blanket and slowly pull it from one side to the other to start the rolling process. My DD loves when I do this with her (grab her ankles that is) b/c I get real goofy and say "which way are you gonna go" and she might think I am going to go one way, but them I go the other way and I feel like she anticipates the motion and is tricked, but I always get a good laugh out of her when we do this. Every baby develops at their own pace, yours will do it when they are ready...

Mine were about 4-5 months. My DD started sooner than my DS. He struggles a little because of some weak muscle tone in his upper body. He manages to compensate with his legs though. He uses his legs to roll (flop) himself over.
