When did your babies grow out of the reflux?

The doctor told us that it usually gets better once they start sitting up on their own and usually grow out of it by a year. Both of our babies are on meds and I'm wondering how we will know when we can start to wean them off of it.

 

7 or 8 months.

 

My ped said that too but the gastro says 18 mo.
We tried taking my ds off the prevacid at age 12mo, he was in a lot of pain, back on it now

 

My DD Sarah is just this month weaned off her meds. She even drank oj yesterday!

 

How did you know when to take her off?

 

My DS got better when he started sitting up. It came back when he started crawling and was pretty much gone by the time he was walking. GL!

 

My girls outgrew their reflux when they started walking at 12-13 months old.

 

Our doctor said that you can tell that they're gorwing out of it if their dosage does not need to be adjusted as their weight goes up. For example, Andy is on Zantac, and for about 2 weeks before his 4 month appointment, he started showing symptoms again, so we upped his dosage to a more weight apporpriate one.

Now, at 6 months, and 2-3 pounds heavier, he still hasn't needed another increase, so we think he might be growing out of it. On the next refill, we're supposed to try going down to 1 dose/day instead of 2, and see how it goes.

 

Oh ok, that is helpful although not as easy to do at this age......they don't grow in weight nearly as much now as they do in length......

 

Emma was on it until 9 months, and Jake until 14 months.

 

Mine outgrew it about 8 months. By 9 month we were off meds. :banana:
