    hi all,

i am starting to feel that our boys are ready for the crib--but i want them to sleep together. just wondering how long this might last and what others' experiences have been. our guys are 3 months adjusted and around 12 and 13 lbs (or so).

    thanks in advance!

My boys have been sharing a crib since birth… they are 2 months now and I’m getting the feeling it is time to move them to their own crib (11 ½ pounds and 12 pounds)… I but I have read other posts on this topic and I THINK the general idea is until they roll over… but I think a few still share a crib LONG after that…

We separated my girls last night they will be 4 months on monday. They wiggle so much in their sleep that they end up kicking each other and waking up. We always put them in the crib so that they look like a V. They are around 14lbs and tall.

We moved them to separate cribs around six months. They were 15 ish pounds and constantly kicking each other and rolling into each other. They were also getting too long to sleep next to each other the short way.

We moved them around 4 months. They sleep much better. Both of them were stretching out their arms when they slept and hitting the other one in the head. Jake is now sleeping on his tummy and I know he would not be able to if Josh was still in the crib with him.

I thought it was going to be a big deal for them. I was prepared for crying thinking they would miss each other, but nope, they did not even notice.

My girls shared the pack n play in our room until they were 4 mo old (bassinet and then the regular part). And then they shared a crib in their room until they were 6 mo old.

They were starting to wake each other up at that point.

Mine started to kick and move around and wake each other up around 3mnths, that's when we put them in seperate cribs, and at around 4mnths we put them in seperate rooms as they cry a bit before naps and it would wake the other one up. I thought they might mind, but they too like a pp said didn't even notice.

we separated our girls this week. They are 7 weeks old now. They seem to sleep much better alone. They were wiggling and kicking each other all night long.

Oh wow. I think I might have some of the biggest babies that share a crib! Haha...
DS is around 23 lbs and a little over 28 inches and DD is around 19 lbs 27 inches...
    AND THEY SHARE A CRIB!
I have another one, too. So I could seperate them but they are totally fine together.

I think you are just going to see as you go. I didn't plan on keeping them in the same crib for this long. But it's how it worked out for them. I think soon I am going to seperate them because DS likes to climb over his sister in the morning.
They are starting to get WAY too into each other and therefore wanting to pull each others ears off and sticking their hands in each others mouths.
So before we get bruised eyes, I should seperate them.

Just see as you go, momma. Hopefully they sleep well together :)

I had visions of my boys all cuddled up next to each other at night. I even had the cute photos of it in my mind. :itwins_boys:
Your children will have their own plan, the trick is they won't show you a copy of it ahead of time :)
I had a wiggler who kept waking his brother up so we separated at 4.5 months. Much earlier than I had wanted.

My girls are 10.5 months old and they still share a crib. I feel that it keeps them on a schedule together since they wake at the same time, and I am not sure if that will happen when we do seperate them. Plus, they entertain each other when they wake up. Rarely do we have issues with it, so I am in no hurry to put the second crib up.

My girls are almost 4 months old, and they share a crib in my bedroom at night, and share a crib in their nursery during the day.

They sleep at one end each [--o o--] although bella loves wriggling up the bed so her head is touching brees! Without fail, super cute!
Not sure how much longer they will fit like this, maybe a month or more. I like them being in the same cot, and it has other obvious perks, like ONLY WASHING ONE SET OF SHEETS!

Mine moved to a shared crib at 3 months, and separate cribs at 4.5 months. They were moving around a lot and disturbing each other.

Mine were in the PnW in our room since birth. We moved one out about 2 weeks ago to another PnP right outside our door. They were waking eachother up i felt. Last night Ella slept upstairs in her own room and slept until 3:30 this morning!!!

It looks like I'm going to be the Odd One....

All three of mine shared a crib for the first 6 months. After that Kate got her own crib in her own room, and the boys continued to share a crib in another room. I only bought 2 cribs to start with, one for the dining room to be used as a bassinet, the other upstairs in their room, they were tiny and could sleep crosswise, in fact I could have put another 2 or 3 in there with them! I just figured I'd get the third when I needed it. I never needed it!!!

The boys shared a crib until they were 24 months old, and moved into toddler beds. They slept much better when they were together, we had two occasions when Thomas was hospitalized during which we found out that Matt really didn't like it when Thomas wasn't there with him.

Funny thing is... we bought 3 toddler beds. Put one in Kates room, two in the boys room. We would get up EVERY morning and find all three of them piled into one TODDLER BED. So I moved Kates bed into their room, and fastened the beds together. I have pictures of them sleeping in this setup.. I'll try to find them and post them later.

Our first real bed was a twin/full bunk. Kate slept up top, the boys shared the bottom. Every morning Kate was down with them. Last year, at the age of 7, Kate decided she wanted her own room again. So we dissassembled the twin full, moved the twin part to her room, decorated it with girl stuff. Last month... she started sleeping in with the boys again.

Mine did it until recently, they are 6 months of age. They have been rolling around alot and are getting too tall to lay side by side on the crib. Luke went into his new room and was totally fine with it while Sophia is still like, "WHERE"S LUKE????"

Ours shared a crib until they started moving around and waking each other up. I believe it was 4 months for us. I wish they would have lasted longer together, but DD is a mover and started very young.

Keep them together as long as it works for you.

7 months for us. There came a point when it seemed they were bothering each other more than soothing so we tried separate cribs but side by side and that has worked ever since. Are yours sleeping together now?

I'm the mean mom! They've slept in separate cribs since they were a week old! They just slept better in their own cribs - they kept whacking each other in the face because they didn't like to be swaddled.

    There are no rules.

My girls will be 4 in September and they are still sleeping together, and have every day of their lives.

Me too. Mine kept waking each other up. My son kept hitting his sister, because he doesn't like to be swaddled either.

they sell a crib divider that might extend the time they are in the same crib if space is an issue and you don't want to set up the other crib... we got the Leachco Crib Spacer - Crib Divider.

I separated mine at 9 months, which in hindsight was probably a little too late; they were rolling all over each other. I got some pretty funny pictures the night before we separated them.

Here's a scrapbook pages I did about the separation:

My girls shared a bassinette for 6 weeks, then they shared a crib until they were 5 months old. Now that I have separated their cribs, baby H has been STTN. I wonder if that would have happened sooner, and her sister was just waking her up.

We have 2 mini cribs due to space constraints in our house, so we separated by necessity at 3 months (when they no longer fit together in the crib sideways). They're still in the same room.

We seperated ours around 4 months ... their weights then were 10 lb 13 oz and 11 lb and 6 oz. I have one really active one and I was scared she would roll over my more stationary DD.

We split ours up around 3 or 3 1/2 months, and that has worked out well for us.
