When did you...

My boys are 8 months old and I was wondering when did you stop a bottle? I am not sure how much they should be eatting at their 9 month check up. They are still eatting about 28 oz.

How many bottles are they on now and how much solids?

At 8 1/2 months we went from 5 bottles to 4. At 10 1/2 months we went down to 3 bottles and added an afternoon snack. At 11 1/2 months we went to 2 bottles and a lunch sippy of formula. HTH.

 

At almost 9 months we are still doing 4 bottles a day DD gets about 24 ounces, DS about 28. I was going to ask the same question when we go to our 9 month pedi visit this week.

 

They are eatting 4 bottles. When they wake up, 10:00 oatmeal & food, 11:15 bottle, 2:30 bottle, 5:30 oatmeal and food and bedtime a bottle. The bottles range in how much they eat. They eat anywhere for 6-8 oz each bottle.

 

I am getting ready to get DD off of bottles and using sippy cups. She is eating about 24 oz.-30 oz/day and about 5 times. DS is breastfed and still eats 8 or more times a day. I am slowly getting her used to the sippy. DS (breastfed) has been on sippy cup since 7 months old. We used the cheap ones from walmart and they are great for training b/c the liquid just flows out.

 

At our 9 month appointment, we were told to drop the formula down to 16-20 oz a day.

 

I use the child-led technique where I watch for their cues as to when they are ready. Mine stopped their last bottle at 18 months.

 

At 9 months we were eating anywhere between 26 and 32 ounces. They dropped all bottles by 13 months.

 

we actually just switched to 3 bottles (and added "dinner") -- they still take between 27 and 22 oz a day. Previously it was 24-27 a day -- so not really much less -- more "consolidation". They eat quite a bit of solids though....
