When did you transition from bouncy seats to crib? How did it go?

I am embarrassed to post this. Our twins are 5 months old now (4 mo. adjusted) and still sleeping in the bouncy seats at night. It is a reclined seat, boppy cradle in comfort, so not too upright. They have reflux. They do take naps in their cribs, which I got them to do the last month, thinking I'd start with naps. Though sometimes the second they hit the crib they wake up. They nap better in swings, right on the playmat, on us, etc. I keep telling DH we have to get the babies in the cribs at night, but he is reluctant to make the switch as they sleep great in there, 10 hrs straight. Please tell me we are not horrible parents to still have them in there, and tell me how you transitioned at night. Do we put them in there and expect they fall asleep, and if they wake up put them in bouncys and hope it goes a little longer each night? Thanks!

You are not horrible parents, if they are sleeping well in there, I don't blame you for leaving them there. If you want to transition them, I would start them in the crib every night & see how it goes. If they wake up, you can always put them in the bouncy. Do you have the crib mattress elevated for their reflux?

I think my DS was about 4 months when we made the transition from bouncy to crib. To start off, we put the bouncy in the crib so he got used to sleeping in there (lowered matress). I then bought a large wedge cushion that I kind of made a positioner for so that he wouldn't roll off or slide down since he really needed to be angled for his reflux. By about 5 or 6 months when he had learned to roll over, we did away with the wedge. Those early months you do what you got to do for sleep and if they're comfortable in the bouncy, it's ok. You'll have to get them transitioned at some point, but you're doing well starting with naps. Try it at night and see. They may surprise you and if not, then the bouncy is always there as a backup.

We have been trying to get our girls to sleep the night in their cribs for the past 2 weeks. They turned 3 months today. Lexia is doing pretty good, she is a good sleeper. But Quinn has some reflux and we have allowed her to sleep in the bouncy chair after one of the two nightime feeds. My husband is worried that sleeping in the chair is bad for her. I worry more about the vibration she gets and the lulling of the swing, that she may not beable to sleep without this. We are also trying to put them to bed around the same time everynight. Its not going that well. But we are trying to be persistant so that they get the message that when in the crib, its sleep time.

Don't feel too bad- mine are being forced to sleep in the crib during the day & HATE it. Especially as I've decided that the swaddling must stop. So during the day they are in sleep sacks. I really need to stop swaddling as they are almost 13 lbs. and their swaddle me's only go to 14 lbs. (REALLY don't want to buy the next size up).

Plus, mine are nowhere close to STTN- you are doing well!

our boys started out in our room in the twin bassinet pnp for the first few nights after that we went straight to the cribs in their own room. it's been that way ever since and they have no problems what so ever with sleeping in their own rooms. our bedrooms share a wall and i would sleep with the monitor right next to my ear so i could hear EVERYTHING, but i think the sooner you transition from bassinet, swing, car seat, bouncy seat, etc. to crib the better at least IMO. good luck.

I transitioned my boys to the crib at about 5 months actual. They didn't sleep in the bouncy at night (but did at naptime) and slept in their carrier instead. There were a few rough nights during the transition, but we made it through. We also had some reflux issues so first I transitioned the boys from the carrier to the PNP with a crib wedge in it. The wedge really helped. Good luck!

Totally not horrible. Ours slept in their bouncy's until they were 4 months old and then we just went cold turkey to the crib at night (they had been napping in it elevated). Our nights were horrible, so I didnt feel like they could get any worse. :pardon: I was right.

You're not terrible! I did that with my first, a singleton. I just kept telling myself that he wouldn't be 5 years old and still sleeping in the swing! He transitioned little by little...first naps, then part of the night, then the whole night. It *will* happen!
    Good luck!

thank you all for making me feel better : )
Yes they both have wedges in the cribs. Our DS naps better in there but his reflux is not as bad, DD is on prevacid hers is so bad. I guess I am making good progress then since naps are mostly in the crib. I will try like you suggested to try to put them in the crib at night and see how it goes and hope it goes longer and longer each night, maybe they will suprise us and sleep in the crib straight through? maybe that is wishful thinking!
wish me luck, just need to get DH on board!

You are doing better than we did. It's great they already take naps in the crib. I think we started transitioning around 5 months or so. But the naps took longer. My son had completely outgrown it and was hanging off the end. yikes. Anyway....all is well now. They sleep in their cribs and we don't have to send their bouncy chairs to college with them!

Definately don't feel bad. My boys are almost 7 months old and we are still sleeping in the vibrating chair things, and then to top it off, Luke is regressing and starting to only sleep in his swing. :unknw:
It is so hard to get the nighttime sleeping down partly because they seem to be light sleepers, also because they are sleeping in our room, and we can't seem to get them to sleep in the cribs.
    I guess we'll survive though.
