When did you stop worrying about SIDS?

The girls are over 8 months old and I feel like I am FINALLY not worrying so much about SIDS. We have the Angel Care monitors with the motion sensors for their cribs but as of yesterday, we have just started separating them for naps. One of them sleeps in the PNP in our bedroom while the other sleeps in the nursery. This means that the one in the PNP does not have the motion sensor on. Even though I do still worry about it, I feel like I really shouldn't. They have absolutely no problems rolling or lifting their heads or anything. So, I am assuming I shouldn't have to worry anymore.

When did you stop worrying about SIDS?

Mine are a year old and I still worry about it. I will probably feel better maybe in another year or so!

I think we stopped really worrying around 8 or 9 months. We were so concerned about it that we took off their bumpers when they were like 5 or 6 months and put on the mesh bumpers. I hated them and around 8 months, we put the other bumpers back on. They love to snuggle up against them. I haven't thought about sids for ages now it seems but we also have a monitor and check on them frequently. Usually I go in to check on them just cause I want to stare at their precious sleeping faces ^_^

I stopped worrying about it around 7 months when the girls began rolling over and sleeping on their tummies, although, I'm not complety worry free,
I still go in their room to check on them 2-3 times a nite, to make sure their breathing right, etc. we keep nothing in their crib when they sleep, not even blankets.. just a few extra paci's in the cribs..

I don't really worry ... I used to, because when I was a baby I had sleep apnea and had to be on a monitor for a year, if I hadn't stopped breathing while asleep in my dad's arms, who knows???? But now that they can roll all over the place, I'm not too worried about it.

But it's still somewhat in the back of your mind.

I stopped worrying about it last month. I finally realized that other than putting them on their backs (until they can roll over), making sure they're not overheated, and keeping toys, etc. out of the crib THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO. SIDS is actually quite rare when you look at the stats, and if it's going to happen, it's going to happen.
If your babies are healthy and you're following the anti-SIDS rules, there's nothing more you can do. Get some sleep!

Im always checking on the boys at night. I have the 2 cribs in my room and dont plan on moving them for awhile lol. I done some research on it and they say twins are more prone but babies who use pacifiers are at low risk. I never worried about it with my girls but I do with the boys.

I was just thinking of that today myself. it seems i'm less worried than i was as time goes by.
i looked it up and found that the peak incidence is between 2nd and 4th month and it does not occur after 1 year of age.
i keep feeling so blessed that these babies are well and happy.

I still "worry" and check on them a couple of times before I go to bed - and have hubby do the same before he comes to bed and still use the monitor.

I did fell better about things when they could roll back and forth on their own confidently (about 5 months old). Once I could see that they were able to do that whenever they wanted to made me a little less of a nail biter about them sleeping all night, but I do still check on them.

Another thing from me: The boys seem to pull their blankets up over their faces sometimes but when they do they always fuss until I come and move it away. Another reason why I check all the time. They always get them untucked.

With my first child, 1 year. With the twins, I can't say that I've been all that scared about it. Of course I don't keep any toys or blankets in the crib. I pray for them every night before bed. Now that they're 6 months old, I really don't give it a second thought. Something about having all these kids has made me realize that I'm not in control of what happens to them. All I can do is give them a safe environment and pray for them. Any extra worry on top of that is wasted energy (which I don't have much of!).

I used to swaddle the boys but now I use gro bags or swaddle them from the waste down - that way I don't have to worry about them getting tangled in the blankets, etc.

Also, I do check on them a few times before I go to bed and if I get up to go to the bathroom. I think that's normal (isn't it?!).
