I am a hairstylist, and stand for the majority of my day. I do not want to induce premature labor, so I am scheduleing to stop working in 6 weeks, at 26 weeks. My OBGYN says that is a fairly normal time for twin moms to stop. Just curious as to when you all have stopped working. I cut my hours down to 6 hours a day, 4 days a week. So the end will be here quickly! Let me know your story's, it's greatly appreciated!

With the twins, I went to half days at 20 weeks and stopped working at 28 weeks. If you are on your feet all day, 26 weeks sounds more than reasonable...but if it starts to bother you before that don't hesitate to stop earlier.

I'll be 35 weeks on Saturday and am still working full-time. However, I sit at a desk all day and being at work is way less stressful than running around after my 2-year-old at home!

I will be 33 weeks tomorrow and I am still working full time. Most of my job is sitting on my butt but just getting here is hard!

I will be 32 weeks on Monday and am still working full time. I have a desk job and only drive about four miles to work, but just getting here everyday is a chore in itself! Starting next week however, I'll be working mostly from home and maybe coming in a couple hours a week just to take care of things I can't do from home. I expect to stop working all together, even from home sometime in late January (around 35-36 weeks). The company I work for isn't required to abide by the FMLA so if I go a month of 'leave without pay' they could yank my benefits, so the longer I can hang on, even from home, the better!

But if I worked on my feet all day, or even part days, I would have stopped several weeks ago. I can barely stand in the kitchen long enough to make dinner without my back aching and I feel like I'm doing pretty good for measuring full term already! I say work as long as you feel able, then don't hesitate to STOP and get off your feet!

I'm only 21 weeks but when my boss gets back from vacation next week I'm telling her I can either do part time, or I'm giving my 2 weeks. I was amazed at how much better I felt while off for Christmas- no back pain, and the extra sleep did wonders. After just 2 days back at work full time, I'm just exhausted, my back pain is back full force. I figure the earlier I can take care of me, the later the dr will force me to take it easy! Good luck! I am an RN and I was put on work restriction at 28 weeks due to a shortened cervix.

I stopped at 26wks. Ended up with PTL and was on bedrest for much of the time after I stopped working so I am glad that I made my own decision to stop.

My Dr. had me stop at 28 weeks. I would have trid to hang on longer, but he was adamant about it. But since even on house arrest, I ended up in PTL at 32 weeeks, I'm glad he did. [IMG]

I worked at McD's when I first found out (back there now) and I stood all day as well. My OB said it would be fine as long as I wasn't cramping, bleeding... having any of those problems. He said as long as that wasn't happening, I could work up until my third trimester. BUT, I didn't want to work anymore, and told DH and after discussing it, I quit in my second trimester.

I just told my boss that I have to stop on 1/12/07 - that will put me around the 28wk mark.

    Good luck!

Hi! I plan to work as long as I can. I am a SLP in the schools. A bit of traveling & walking up & down the hallways, but not too bad. I am 29 weeks. I am definitely slowing down lately, but want to work as long as I possibly can. I took a job in a new school district & now have only 12 sick days to use this year for my maternity leave.

I was 31 weeks. I had a desk job and would have kept working if I hadn't been unexpectedly put on bedrest.

I stopped at 26 weeks, I have a few friends and family members who had their twins at 24-27 weeks and have seen firsthand some of the struggles they have had. So, when my dr suggested it, I took her advice and gave the note to my principal at 22 weeks, giving them 4 weeks notice.

I was told I had to stop working at 24 weeks due to a shortening cervix that landed me on bed rest since then...I'll be 29 weeks on Sunday.

It's hard to swallow seeing as I worked up until the day I delivered with each of my other three pregnancies!! [IMG] But, this whole "twin thing" is just sooooooooooooooo much different!!!

I really wanted to make it to 32 weeks, but at 26 weeks my uterus really started to get irritated, thus I stopped working at 26 weeks.

This post is really helpful. I told my doc that I planned on stopping at 32 wks and he told me that was very ambitious. Judging by the way I have felt the past week, I now understand what he was saying. I think I will cut down my hours in the next few wks. I do have a 20 month old daughter to tend to at home, so sometimes I think being here is actually better. *shrug*

Just stopped at 26 weeks due to PTL. I'm a RN and am on my feet all day. When you have to be on your feet for your job you are at a higher risk of PTL so you may need to stop earlier.

My last day at work was 37w5d. I have a desk job, but the walk from my carpark to my office was nearly unbearable.

If your on your feet all day its understandable that you wont be able to work as long.

    Wow I feel truly pathetic.

I was on bedrest for 9 weeks in my first trimester for various reasons. Went back to work but only part time for 7 weeks before I got put back on bedrest again at 23 weeks for PTL.

I would just listen to your body. If it starts to tell you that you are too tired finish up or go part time. Only you will know when its time to stop working i dont think you can predict it.I stopped working at 32 weeks exactly it was a thursday lol! I got signed off work as i was exhausted(i worked with children from 8.45am untill 5.15 pm every day so was running around like a headless chicken!) Which i suspose was a good thing b/c 4 days on i went into PTL and had them at 2.48pm and 2.58pm !!! I guess i should have rested more but was so used to running around that sitting on my backside bored me. Everyone used to joke that i would have them at work and i nearly did! x

My doctor wanted me to stop working at 27 weeks. Because it was my first year of teaching and internship, I had to teach 140 days, which meant I could only take off 6 weeks. I taught until Christmas break which was 33 weeks. I sat as much as possible and had huge ankles by the end of every day. May have contributed to the babies being premature--but unfortunately there wasn't a choice. Would never suggest anyone with twins work that long--it's difficult.

I woz put on bed rest at 29 weeks (delivered at 37). I had a physical/standing job too (massage therapist). Listen to ur body, I woz pushing myself and should have been resting more.

    Good luck with ur decision.

I was/am a food services manager at a campus and was always on my feet running to caterings, setting them up, preparing food, etc, and just couldn't hack it anymore. My doc pulled me off work at 28 weeks when I told him I was getting so tired and getting what he told me were BH contractions ... when I went off of work I felt so much better.
