When did you stop washing everything first?

The boys are growing in length so fast, that they move out of clothes very rapidly - I still prewash everything first - but wondered at what point - if any - do you stop prewashing clothes/toys? Just wondering if I am ever going to have less laundry to do [IMG]

I haven't stopped completely it just depends on what kind of mood I am in as sad as that sounds.

I quit right after christmas so they were 4 months old. They got so many clothes I couldn't keep up with it all so I just tried it and they were fine. I think it just depends on if your babies have a reaction to things unless they are washed.

I still do it for the whole family?
So many people touch clothes in the store, I guess some people may think I'm just a bit compulsive but I compare it to the nasty shopping cart thing.

I do sometimes now... back then I did everytime. They were so little, and at risk for everything, I didn't want to take the chance.

I still do with our girls (although they are much younger than your babies) but I plan on doing it forever. I also try to wash mine & DH's new clothes too.

I wash all of mine and the kids things. I just think of all the people who have tried stuff on, returned, the carts...ugh

Dh wont let me wash his stuff first, he likes to wear his clothes when they are new new

i don't like how newly bought clothing smells or feels so everyone in this household gets their new clothing washed before they get to wear it.

I stopped after my first child. Now I have five and two step children, too. I don't prewash clothes. My twins have never had a rash or anything from it.

I hate to say this but I stopped a little after they were born. They got SOOOO many clothes it was a hassel.

I still do. I'm not really worried about them having a reaction anymore, but I just think newly bought clothes feel stiff and smell funny.

I wash my entire family's clothes first and I wash all the girls toys before they get to play with them. If I cant wash them, I spray them down with Babyganics sanitizer spray. I think that so many people touch clothes and baby toys that they just need to be cleaned first.

I stopped after about 1 month. A 73-year old friend of mine told me that they never washed clothes in advance way beack when, so I stopped. And luckily we've had no problems!

I work for Target in their clothing section. I wash everything that can be washed before I give it to the boys. People have done some nasty things to the clothes they try on. I've seen parents who let their children chew on toys and then put them back on the shelf soggy. Very gross. [IMG]

^Yep, ever since I worked for Wally World I've washed EVERYTHING that I can. I could curl your hairs with some of the stories I can tell. People are GROSS!
