I stopped using the Baby Bjorn very early, as it hurt my back/shoulders. I have a ring sling though, and still use it at times!

I stopped using the Bjorn when they were 10 months old. DH used it a couple months ago when the girls were 14 months old and 20lbs.

I stopped using the Snugli about a month ago. It was killing my back when I used it! I replaced it with a Moby wrap that I LOVE!! I use it frequently and it is still very comfortable!

I hated my snuggli and my baby bjorn, both killed my back. I carry my boys in a Moby Wrap & a Ergo Baby carrier. I carry one on the front and one on the back. They Ergo is expensive, but worth every penny... My kids fall asleep in it all the time! Both carriers can be used until your kids reach 40 lbs... I have a hard time imagining using the moby that long, but I have used the ergo on my 38 lb daughter just because they said I could, and it worked well! You can use the Ergo on your fron , back or hip so it is pretty versitile compared to a Bjorn or snuggli...

    ooh I love this subject!!

I have a snugli and two other carriers that look like they're fit for hiking but I don't like how they hit my pressure points... The straps are too narrow. I have a hyperextended neck injury, back spasms, and a lower back injury so I love wrapping! I'm learing how to back carry so if one decides not to sleep I can still do dishes while carrying her. Here's a few pics (the wine colored one is actually two cotton knit wraps (short) and the baby is sitting in the middle):

check out thebabywearer.com there are so many carriers out there, it's insane! Rebozo, Mei Tai, Podegi, wraps (not just moby which doesn't work so well when your babies get bigger due to the stretchy material). I actually just bought some linen from joann's and split in half, double rolled hem - braiding and using it around the place to soften, I LOVE it! I'm going to dye it next. lol

These usually have more than 1 kind of carrier they sell and some don't fit beyond a certain size:
storchenweiges (one of the most popular and it's not hard to see why!): http://www.storchenwiege.com/
    didymos: http://www.didymos.com/
GypsyMama: (more inexpensive like Moby): http://gypsymama.com/
    mei tais: http://www.meitaibaby.com/
    ellaroo: http://www.ellaroo.com/
    Maya Wraps: http://www.mayawrap.com/
    baby k'tan: http://www.babyktan.com/
    wrap n wear: http://www.wrapnwear.com/

Also another thing to consider is where is the weight sitting on the baby? A lot of carriers you buy in the stores have the babies hanging by their crotch and that puts pressure on their spines. The more their legs are spread, the deeper hip-socket joints they will develop. This has also been very helpful and therapeutic for babies with hip displacia. an added bonus for someone like me.

So you really don't have to stop using your baby carriers at all, just upgrade and find a babywearing group near you to try on what they have! you will be so suprised!!

ps. I've only been doing this for about 2 or so weeks now. lol but most of the carriers out there you can DIY but if I could buy a storch or didy I would in a heartbeat!
