When did you stop formula?

My question is: When do you stop Formula? not When did you stop formula (sorry)

I was just wondering when you stop giving formula and moved onto the next step..and do you have to wean them off formula or can you just switch???

 

right around a year I started weaning them from formula to cows milk...you don't have to use the next step formula if you don't want to - although it has the same nutrient content and it is a few dollars cheaper a can...

by the time the twins were 11-12 mos old formula was just a beverage with meals - and once in a while they'd take a bottle for a snack but really they weren't using it for "nutrition" at that point...

 

around 11/12 months people start moving to whole milk. I'd talk with your doctor.

 

9 months per peds recommendation. I mixed 1/2 and 1/2 for a few days and then switched them over.

 

We switched to whole milk right at 12 months.

 

With our oldest DD we stopped formula at 9 months and switched to her whole milk, our ped usually does it at 9 months. Since Emilie and Trevor were preemies we stopped at 12 months.

Most peds stop at 12 months, however, there are some that stop at 9 months.

 

Definitely ask your pedi. We stopped at a year.

 

Yeah, at 1 year, when their GIT can digest the fatty acids & the minerals in cow milk, before a year you should be cautious of cow milk allergy. Thus, if you have an allergy history runs in ur family so postpone it for a while till they r completely ready
