When did you start stage 2 foods?

I'm making most of the girls' food, but I have a few Gerber foods on hand for when we need to travel somewhere. When did you switch to stage 2 foods? And, what's the difference between stage 1 and 2? I noticed there are a few more choices in the stage 2 foods, but a lot of the foods are the same choices as stage 1.

My girls started cereal at 4 mo. and within a few weeks of that were on Stage 1. The only difference between stage 1 and stage 2 is that stage 2 is thicker. I personally hated stage 1 because I think they are way too runny. We started stage 2 at around 6 mo. HTH!

stage 1 are under six months and runny and liquid-like. stage 2 means past six months old.

a wonderful book to learn all this stuff and tons more (and learn how to make baby food if you want to) is ruth yaron's super baby food.

    take care, jl

Stage 2's are pretty much the same consistency as Stage 1's they just come in a bigger container. So when the girls start to polish off the 1's you can move up to the 2's. They also start to do some flavor combining in the 2's.

I couldn't tell much difference b/w stage 1 and stage 2 either except you get more in the container for stage 2, and more variety. I think you can start whenever you feel comfortable, I bet your girls won't notice a difference.

I use stage 1 or 2 depending on my mood.

We went straight from cereal to #2's. There is just more for your money with Jar #2. Then I could open one and they shared.

I too went from cereal to stage 2. My girls are now 9 months and are trying even more solids like zwieback cookies and canned peaches. They'd eat my pizza if they could!! HAHA
