When did you start solids?

Hi. Can you tell me when you started your twins on rice cereal? Killian is eating 4 ounces of formula every 2 hours. He will not eat more than that at a feeding nor can I get him to go more than 2-3 hours without a bottle. He seems to always be hungry. I won't start solids withot talking to the ped first....I'm hoping she says I can start him on cereal soon!

We started at 4 months, not for hunger issues, that's when our pedi starts. Good luck!

 

4 months here too, recommended by our ped.

 

I started my girls at 4 months for just 1 meal a day. It took them about a week and a half to get the hang of keeping at least some of it in their mouths. This was a little frustrating, but ultimately worth it! Good luck!

 

We started at 3.5 months because our boys were consistently eating 8oz per feeding and over 40oz per day. We did not wait for pedi approval. They did great from day one- no swallowing, gagging, etc. issues at all and were very excited about it! They loved solids from the start and it did seem to satisfy them more to add solids early.

BTW, not all babies like rice cereal... I started with that and they didn't like it all that much. I switched to oatmeal and mixed grain cereal after about 2 weeks and they loved it. I hear this a lot from other moms. Also recommend adding some stage 1 banana to the cereal to enhance the flavor - they really loved that! (and still do)

 

We started at 2 weeks in the bottles for reflux issues. Then off the spoon around 4 months.

 

My boys are around the same age as your kiddos! They are eating around 34 oz. a day, so I'm hoping at our 4 month appointment next week, the pedi will suggest the cereal!
