I know, another solids question, but I was wondering when you started a third feeding of solids. Also, when you are stil makeing sure they are not allergic to anything by giving it to them three days in a row...can you give them a fruit in the a.m. that they have already had and you know that they are not allergic to it. We have yet to make it through all the veggies and have only had bananas for fruit. We did not start baby food other then cereal until about 3 weeks ago due to their adjusted age and reflux. They are doing great and I was just wondering when I should give it to them one more time a day.

We started cereal at 4.5 months and added their third meal around 7 months, but they had already tried all the varities of veggies and fruits. I kept giving my girls the veggies they had and were fine with while introducing fruit. Maybe once they have been through all the fruits, you can add the third meal. This is how we did it at 7 months:

    6:30 wake
    6:45 bottle - 7 oz.
    7:30 oatmeal with fruit
    9:00 nap
    12:00 bottle - 7 oz.
    12:30 fruit and veggie
    1:00 nap
    4:00 bottle - 6 oz.
4:30 meat combo meal - stage 2 and sometimes veggie
    6:00 bottle - 4 oz.
    6:30 bed

We started solids at 4.5 months (dinner) added a second meal in around 6 months (lunch) and breakfast just recently at 7 months. As far as the 3 day rule when offering a new food I wait 3 days but you can still feed them all the old foods in the meantime. We are moving on to more multi ingredient foods and table foods so I'm not as strict about each individual ingredient, just about the food in general.

I would say just follow your babies cues, my babies are solid lovers, they would eat solids 5 times a day if I let them.

    Hi-

We started a second meal at 6 months (breakfast) and then went to 3 meals a day at 9 months (lunch). I always followed the 4 day wait rule until they were close to a year. We had a milk allergy and I wanted to make sure we werent allergic to anything else.

Yes, you can give bananas in the morning and a "new" food later that day since you know that if they had a reaction it would not be the bananas since they have "passed" the wait rule.

Have fun. Sounds like you guys are doing great.

I started solids at 4mo with my girls but that was because one has bad reflux and I could not add rice to her bottle because they didnt take bottles. Then she got all bound up from the rice so I tried oatmeal then added prunes. They started with dinner, then we did breakfast. We added lunch at their 6mo visit.
I always do the 4 day wait rule. And I do different combos of fruit, veggie, and cereal. No proteins yet. I also just started making their food.

    Good luck!

I didn't add the 3rd meal until around 9 months, but mine were not huge baby food eaters. When they were at 2 meals, it was a fruit at one and a veggie at the other.

Mine LOVED cereal and baby food early on, and started taking less from a bottle since they wanted the food. They had three solids a day closer to 8 months old here.
