When did you start feeling BH contractions?

I'm not sure if this was a BH or not but I was driving home and felt a tightening/cramping feeling in my lower abdomen. It lasted a few minutes and only happened once. I thought 15 weeks was a little early for BH but could it be? [IMG]

I started at 13 weeks with the twins....but I have had them fairly early with all of my pregnancies. Make sure you are getting plenty to drink and not overdoing it. [IMG]

My doctor told me Monday you cannot have contractions before 20 weeks. I told her sometimes I was having tightening in my lower stomach that hurts. She says it is the baby moving.

I have heard that you can have BH as early as 6 weeks, but I don't know how reliable the source is.

Last week, while lying in bed, my whole uterus tightened. Sure felt like a BH to me!

I started getting them at 16 weeks with dd.

My wife started feeling them last week @ 13 weeks. And on monday(she's now 14 weeks) she was at work and she was having one behind the other. She's a nicu nurse and is on her feet most of the day. She started to panic and became upset. I had to go pick her up and take her to her doctor where they sent her to L&D for monitoring. After a few hours they determined it was just BH, no signs of preterm labor, her cerix looked great(She is a fingertip dialated but he said they came from already having a child) and that the length of her cervix is just fine. He did prescribe her terbutaline for the contractions and seems to be working for her as she is only having a few a day now. He didnt take her out of work but said if she notice she was having alot of them at work he would take her out. He said that throughout the pregnancy women will have contractions daily some may just notice before others.

When I told my ob that I though I was having BH contractions at around 20 weeks, she kind of laughed it off, saying I was WAY too early to be feeling BH that it was probably the baby moving.

Well 4 weeks later I was in the hospital, contracting like crazy with a shortened cervix. I wish I had been a little more proactive.

So with that said, I started having bh contractions at around 20 weeks. When that happens, rest on your side, drink gobs of water, and keep an empty bladder. It is normal to have them, just not too many (a good baseline is more than 4 in an hour).

I have to agree with Kate. Be careful. Just last week I was hospitalized for contractions at 24 weeks. I thought I was just having BH but didn't realize that if they were rhythmic and more than 10 an hour there could be a problem. Thankfully, they didn't change my cervix. However, I am on bedrest and meds for the rest of the pg.

I'm sure this won't happen to you...just be aware that if you start having them regularly, pay attention to your body and talk to your dr.

I had them starting at 13 weeks...and having been pregnant before I know EXACTLY what I'm feeling. I am now on bed rest, although I haven't been in actual PTL. I get A LOT (sometimes way more than 'the limit') but bed rest does seem to help.
