I know my girls are way too young right now, but I do want to get them into dance/gymnastics as soon as I can. They love to tumble, dance, etc., and I'm pretty sure they would love classes, when the time is right.

I did a mommy and me gymnastics class with Marcus when he was a bit over 2. Most places won't start kids on their own until at least 3.

Most places that I know of don't take kids until they are 3, or close to 3. There are some Mommy and Me, or Daddy and Me, classses for 2 year olds around here.

From when I used to teach dance, I think it's closer to 4 or 5 that they will start doing more dance and less movement type class. But DD1 has been in some sort of gymnastics since she was 3, and loves it!

The girls started ballet/gymnastics at 3. There is a class with mommy for gymnastics at 2 1/2, but I don't think before.

I know our gymnastics club starts a Mommy and me at 18 months here. With Caroline she started dance at age 3 and loved it. Most of our dance classes here start at 2.5 years of age.

I am starting Mommy and Me gymnastics with the boys next month. My DD has been doing it since 18 months old and she loves it. I am looking forward to doing something with them outside of the house.

Nadia loved the mommy-and-me classes at Little Gym when she was 2. She wasn't so keen on the child-only gymnastics classes when she turned 3, so I took her out, and will start her in ballet/tap this fall, at 4.5...

there is a place in my area that starts gymnastics at 18 mos - I should really get Ian enrolled - he'll do tumble sets across my living room!

    Chelley,
I have been wondering the same thing. We have one here that has a Toddler Tumbling Class at 2, but mommy stays. At 3 they stay by themselves. I am seriously considering it for the fall.

3 year olds are the first age group they take here in my area. Usually there is a 3-4 or 3-5 group that can go once a week! It's really fun! You should totally do it!

I hopefully will try starting them in dance/gymnastics when they are 3. And baseball when they are 4 and tennis when they are 5 and soccer when they are 6 LOL. And of course there's volleyball but I will have to wait a few years for that. My girls have no idea how busy they will be.

We did a mommy and me one at 18 months.

Most of the "real" classes, that do not allow parent participation, start at three and the kids must be potty trained. So Hannah and Ben both started their first class without me a week after they turned three (see my avatar). Hannah LOVES dance and will even be in her first recital this summer. Ben on the other hand, is still a little immature to attend a class without mommy glued to him and so we did not sign him up again (he cried, and cried, and the teacher had too many other kids to deal with!).

My girls just finished up dance (tap and ballet). They did go on stage for the recital (surprisingly), but I am not enrolling them in dance again until they get to be about 5 or 6. They absolutely LOVE gymnastics. They started both dance and gymnastics right before their 3rd birthday this past Nov. I'm definitely keeping them in gymnastics for a while.

We started Mommy and Me at 18 months. Katelyn took her first dance class at age 2. In our program you did not have to be potty trained.

Mine could start Mommy & Me gymnastics at 18 months here. Dance starts at 3 here.
