When did you officially call it "crawling"??

DH and I are not sure when it's officially crawling.

So, how did you determine they were crawling?

Belly crawl? Up on all fours with one hand moving forward? At least 3 forward motions?

When they can see something they want (across the room) and move in a forward motion to get, I call that crawling.

My DD was a backwards speed crawler for about a month before she learned to go forward, when she did, thats when I called it crawling.

    HTH!

I had levels of crawling..... commando crawling was just that, but it was a means of destination.

Once they got up and did a bit I called it crawling first steps and then finally they were off and crawling!

On hands and knees with forward or backward locomotion.

Army crawl is when they got the legs going, but not the arms. they kind of "slither" the direction they want to go.

As long as their hand and knees were in motion and they were going either forward or backward, I consider it crawling!

In their baby books, I called it crawling once the tummy came up off the floor when moving. Stephanie

Well, I am saying that DD is crawling for sure now. Today she moved her arms/legs forward 4-5 times before falling. Her legs kind of hop behind her like a frog, but darnit, it's crawling in my book!!! [IMG]
