When did you move your twins into their own bedroom?

My twin boys are 18 weeks (13 weeks adj) and they are sleeping in our room. I'm struggling with deciding when to move them into their own room. I'm anxious to get them in their cribs and get that adjustment over with, but I'm also nervous about moving them across the hall from us. It seems silly, their room (doorway to doorway) is literally less than 6 feet away from our's, but still.....

So, when did you guys move your babies out of your room (if they ever slept in your room)?

    Thanks!

The twins were in our room for about 2 days. Babies are soooooooo noisy and I would wake if they made the slightest noise in their sleep. I moved them 2 days after we got home. lol. I got much more sleep and had a monitor even though their room was right next to mine. At 3 months they got separate rooms because one was a better sleeper than the other. :)

We moved them at about 2 weeks when they went down to 1 night feeding!

My boys are 6 months old and we just moved them out of our room about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I was hesitant about it because their room is upstairs and I didn't want to be that far away from them (and I didn't want to run up and down the stairs 3-4 times a night checking and or feeding them). After I knew they could sleep through the night - they had done it intermittenly for a couple weeks - I thought it was time to break them of getting up to eat out of habit. So, we did it and I cried the first night but it's been great ever since! They go to bed and go to sleep until the morning!! Except for the occasional wake up and grump themselves back to sleep - it's awesome!! Good Luck!

At 8 months, but it was mostly due to the fact that we had nowhere to put them! We moved into a bigger house when they were 8 months old. Maybe start putting them in there for naps first?

we moved them at about 11 weeks -- this is when they got consistant with a long 7-8 hour strech of sleep at the beginning of the night -- it is also when we started to put them to be earlier (7pm). In reality we moved them because they were so loud that even though they were sleeping more -- I wasn't.

Oh my how interesting that you were out there doing this at about the same time we were! We moved about 2 weeks ago. I was so torn and I finally decided they had to be out by six months. Now we just need to stop feeding them and maybe things would improve for us even more. We're very chicken.

We moved one at about 4 months and the other at 6 months. For me it had to do with how many times they were getting up to eat at night.

Mine went out at 5 weeks, and we all slept better. The instigator was DH had th flu and I wanted them to have space from him and not interrupt him during the night. It worked so well, we left them. They didn't sleep in their room except for the night until like 3-4 months ( I cant' remember)

At about 3 months -- when they started sleeping more at night (6-8 hours instead of 2-3). I was still waking up every couple of hours anticipating them waking up, and would grab them at every squeak and feed them. Turns out, they would squeak and go back to sleep! So even though they were sleeping more, I wasn't. So we moved them, and now I sleep much better. I felt a little selfish at first, still wanting to be close, but they sleep better too now, I think.

We had our DD and DS co-bed in one crib in our room until 4 months. Then they each moved to their own crib, but remained in our room. At 6 months we moved each of them into their own room. Each transition went smoothly...I think it was harder on us than it was on them! :)

My boys are 8 days younger than yours (and also with a 5-wk adjustment), and we are facing the same question. We are co-sleeping, and the boys are simply getting too big for our bed! I lay squished on my side most of the night, and wake up with a backache. Also, my boys are sleeping a nice, long stretch from 8ish to 2ish, often followed by a 3+ hour stretch until 5:30ish, so I think they would do well on their own. Truthfully, though, I wouldn't mind keeping them in our room longer (but in a crib). I really like them close by. Their room is also about 6 feet from ours, and I'd use a monitor... but... I still feel like I'd wake up better with them in the same room. They take most of their naps in their crib, in the nursery, but that is daytime when I am wide awake and listening for the monitor.

They're still not out. We always mean to make the transition, but for now it's working for all four of us.
