when did you go from Mama to Mommy?

The majority of the time, I refer to myself as Mommy, and DH as Daddy, but the boys continue to call us Mama and Dada. They are in ST, though they just did a re-eval at their appt yesterday, and both are now within normal ranges! YAY! (Though B BARELY made it....) So I suppose it could just be speech related, but I was just wondering when "everyone else's kids" made that change?? Or do you think we'll be Mama and Dada forever? I suppose not everyone calls their mom "Mommy" as a kid.

My two started calling DH "daddy" when they were around 18 months or so. With me, they still call me mama, and I kind of don't want to change it since I think it sounds sweet.

Congratulations on your boys graduating from ST!! :woo:

I became mommy about when my two turned 3. DD would occasionally slip it in before then, but now that is what she calls me.

Way too soon. :( I love being called mama and I believe it was right around 2 they started with mommy.

Amy switched to "Mommy" just before turning 2, and Sarah several months later. (I can pinpoint it so exactly because I have, pinned up next to my desk, some "family pictures" they drew at 22 months -- really just scribbles, but the teachers asked them who was who, and Amy identified us as "Mommy and Daddy" whereas Sarah said "Mama and Dada.") I remember that Sarah kept the "Mama" for so long that I was starting to wonder if she would call us that forever.

Now Amy often calls me "Nonny" (or "Non" for short). She started doing it just to be silly, and at first I found it annoying, but now it's sort of grown on me. It's like her personal nickname for me.

I don't think we had a transition that I could identify with a moment in time. They both gradually transitioned from Mama to Mommy. Now, at almost 4, they both say Mommy. Occassionally they will both call me Mama but it depends on the circumstances.

I'm not sure with my two. I don't really remember. But now they call me Mom, Mama, Mommy, sometimes even Tina which makes me laugh. My husband usually gets called Daddy-o, not sure where that came from but also really makes me laugh.

I think I went to Mommy about 2 y/o but that was more because they have older sibs already calling me mommy. I can't remember when the first ones made the transition.

I can't remember when I went to mom by my oldest but I do remember when dd first called me mom (from mommy)I was heartbroken. my dd (10 y/o) still goes back and forth from mom to mommy)

I can't remember exactly when it happened, but I know that right now they call me both mama and mommy. It just depends on what they feel like at the moment.

Mine talked really late (25 and 27 months), and I honestly don't remember with the boys.

However, Lu called me Onni, then Nini, then Mahti, then Monni (for a long time) and then finally Mommy. I was so excited when she could finally say "Mommy." :D

My 7 and 9 yo still call me Mama. (Hence my screen name). I don't know why!
I still call my own parents Mommy and Daddy.
