When did you give them a pillow?

I don't remember when we gave our oldest a pillow in her crib--I think she was about three! Our twin DD loves to sleep on her blanket like a pillow, so I'm wondering if we should let her have a pillow. I think it's a little too early, but wanted to get your feedback.

I gave both my boys pillows in their cribs around 18 months. They slept so much better after that! It may even have been a little before that, since I think it was before Christmas last year.

I waited until they asked for one (2ish). They rarely sleep on the pillow but I think it makes them feel like big boys to have it.

My girls maybe about 18mths or a little earlier. My son was about 14/15mths when we gave him a small pillow. He now has a regular size pillow in his crib that he sleeps on (just gave that to him about a week ago).

Great question! I was just thinking the same thing! Anyone have a link to the type of pillow you gave them? Mine have these little play pillows they love ... and while they are playing they will lay their head on them and say "Night Night!" to me ... so I think they might like one!

They got pillows and blankets at their second Xmas, when we did away with sleep sacks, so 21m.

We bought them travel-size pillows (about 9" x 16") at Jo Ann's and I sewed some simple pillowcases to go with them out of fabric remnants I had. They are the perfect size for them and don't dominate the crib.

They slept on top of them mostly in the beginning. Joe is now completely attached to his pillow (and one yellow, flannel, stars and moon pillowcase in particular). It is very sweet. Nick likes his, but he is not particular about having 'the pillowcase' and 'the blanket' he just wants any pillow/blanket. I do go back in and cover them up before going to bed myself, but they are pretty good about staying under the covers and know how to cover themselves up if they wake up cold.

Mine were around 15 months when they started using a pillow. Been using one ever since!

They got toddler pillows last Christmas, so they were around 21 months.

I think it's fine. My boys have been offered pillows many times but they just don't seem to want them. They do sleep with duvets in their cribs though (the little Ikea ones). I don't think it's a big deal after a year or so.

mine have used a very small one since they were about 13 or 14 months--it's maybe 8 x 16 inches or something along those lines. and very flat. they always cuddle up to it to sleep, but they don't use it all night or anything, they are ALL over the crib

Mine are getting pillows for their 3rd birthday next week. I would have felt safe giving them pillows at 2, but they slept great and never asked for a pillow, so I just didn't bother. I'm just doing it now because I thought they'd get a kick out of it -- and also to prepare them a bit for their move to big kid beds in a few months.

I got "travel pillows" at Bed Bath & Beyond -- they are the same size as the "toddler pillows" I saw on the internet.

They use the pillows that came with their crib bedding sets. Ainsley usually sleeps on hers, Bea has decided she doesn't want a pillow and pushes it to the bottom of the bed. I think they've had them since about 18 months or so. Not sure when I'll give them "real" pillows. I guess I could now, but they seem fine.

My girls girls we ordered the pillows from leap and bounds (I think it's the other baby catalog and leaps and bounds is for the bigger kids but can't remember the name right now). For my son I gave him the pillow they sent me home from the hospital with. I had a c-section and the hospital gave me a small pillow so my mom made a cover for it and I gave it to him.

Mine got them for their 2nd birthday. We ordered them from Mr. Bobbles Blankets and they were actually giving a twin discount at the time (I think it may have been Jennie-Oh that negotiated that). They had some really cute patterns for the pillowcases and they are a soft flannel which my kids think is "cozy".

She actually has a "Twin Gift" set which reflects a discount on the regular price of the pillows here.

Interesting topic! I haven't even considered giving the girls a pillow yet. I'm pretty sure Ana wouldn't use it at all, and Meara would just sleep with her whole body on top of it!

We still use our Mr. Bobbles Pillows. Great quality! I need full size pillows now to fit their pillow cases....need a good flat one. But can't find them anywhere!

We were just talking about giving them pillows! If there are throw pillows or anything on the floor, then if they aretired they crawl over to them and lay their heads down. We also think it may be an eaier way to get them more comfortable sleeping through the nights in their own cribs!! When they get in bed with us, they always put their heads on our pillows.

Nice to see everyone elses opinions!
